Earlier thsi week I posted a message about my LFS identifying a fish
incorrectly that I had bought, I went back and now confirmed what it
should be, which is a Pseudotropheus magpie. I cannot find out
anything about this fish. Has anyone out there ever come across it?

There is no P. magpie in any of the references. There is a Metriaclima zebra
that has an OB "orange blotched" pattern that is sometimes called magpie, but
the mouth shape would never be confused with a Labeotropheus. If your fish has
an OB pattern and the mouth is slightly underslung, but not anything like the
mouth of a Labeotropheus, I'd guess your fish is Tropheops tropheops OB or
Tropheops sp. "chinayamwezi" OB as pictured here.

Good Luck with your fish.

Not quite the same but not a million miles away

Looks like I'm almost there

have you considered that this fish might be a hybrid? The possibility is not
remote, when purchasing from an LFS. That might explain the difficulty in
identifying it.
