Sick Blue Dwarf Gourami by
Klane
I have 3 Dwarf Gourami's and only one is sick. A few weeks ago I
noticed that his fins were ripped and he had some red spots on his
body. My LFS told me to try Mardel's Meracyn-2. After a week there was
no change. Next they suggested I used Melafix (Tea tree extract). After
a week he is looking...

Sodium thiosulphate by
Fallout
Hi
I have been trying to source a supply of dechlorinator that does nothing but
dechlorinate. According to my LFS the Tetra product only contains Sodium
thiosulphate, but the label says that it will also remove heavy metals.
Does Sodium thiosulphate remove metals as well as chlorine? As I mix...

Zook
I have a 110 gal freshwater with only 7 very small fish which are fed
infrequently. I use an anti-nitrate compound in the filter but algae is

That thing crawling around in my tank by
Jeff
Some may recall the thing that looked like some sort of bug crawling around
in my tank. It was crawling up the glass, evetually I lost track of it. From
looking at weblinks sent to me I thought it was a waterbug. This morning it
showed up again, crawling across one of my white shells. I was able to...

My plants aren't doing so hot... by
Jamie Drilling
Only the hygrophila is showing symptoms so far--new growth is brown.
They are in an aquarium without fish at the moment, two relatively
small plants (approx 8" tall). They are still in the rock-wool packing
but will be moved to a flourite & vermiculite substrate within the next
few days.

New Betta Pics by
Dan White
Hi. This is the betta I just put into the Eclipse 5 that is running in the
mid 80's. The hood light is very hot, so maybe changing that to fluorescent
will help some. I also dropped the water level down below the motor, but
the temp is still running high. Maybe the water flow through the...

Newbie with Eheim, need assistance by
[email protected]
I have a 55 gallon tank, all freshwater, tetras and such.
The tank is 6months old and so is the Eheim Filter, model 2215.
This morning I awoke to it making noise, as if was obstructed?
No water is being sent back into the tank...not sure if any is being
drawn out.
Any assistance would be...

Bettas and Temperature by
Dan White
Hi. I last posted about what kind of small tank to get for my new betta. I
ended up with an Eclipse corner 5 tank (5 gal). I also picked up a 25 watt
heater as I was concerned about temp changes even though someone here said
his 3 gal didn't fluctuate at all. I guess the lfs guy talked me into...

My ramshorn snail is homeless! by
A Man
Ramshorn snails do not normally come out of their shell. They are physically
attached to the inside the shell via their mantle, I think. For some reason
the mantle became damaged and it came out of the shell. All in all, if
nothing eats the snail (he is now very vulnerable) he should be fine....

Wilma coming by
Rick
Well we have the shutters up, the patio furniture thrown in the pool, the
yard picked up, boat filled with water and did large water changes on all 4
tanks and pond. Boy am I tired. Now it's a waiting game to see just how bad
we get it. Fortunately Wilma is not packing quite the winds that Charlie...

how to make an aquarium, (100 gallon)? by
Rebel
I would like to know how to make an aquarium, if possible 100 gallons.
I have some koi, and i know that they live in ponds but we live in an
apartment so that isn't possible. I would like to make an aquarium
because buying one isn't good for my budget. I have more than 7 kois
in my aquarium. ...

Feeding Siamese algae eaters by
Siamese Ninja Fish
Hi, my four Siamese algae eaters were up until a week ago eating only
carnivore pellets and the odd pea. Last week I tried to get them eating
algae wafers again and I also brought some tetra plecomin tabs, but they
wont eat them. They will eat flake food, but I find it hard to not put to
much in...

Super luft pump? by
Daniel Morrow
Hi all! I noticed in a recent catalog in the last few days that coralife
(energy savers) is now making super luft pumps with magnetic piston
technology which sounds impressive to me. It is an aluminum heavy duty
housing and has 4 or 6 output nozzles (the 4 being adjustable, metal) and
apparently it...

new posible additions by

My tank is getting close to cycled so I'm, thinking of getting some more
fish for this tank. It has a 3.5:" banded rainbow it is going to get a
2" zebra diano as he is pecking at my glowlights(bad boy;) ). I would
also like to add a botia to eat the snails in the tank as I added gravel
to help the...

Looking at Betta Tanks by
Dan White
Hi. I'm just looking for something simple and cheap for a betta. I was
looking at a couple of models from 3 to 6 gallons. They are a package deal
with a light hood and filter, and are quite inexpensive. They don't come
with a heater, and don't even mention the need for one, but I'd like to...

I have been taking out 1/4th of the water in my 20 gallon tank for the last

of the other 4) and have been taking readings twice a day. I am not changing
the water again until Sunday (When I have time). Here are my...
