snail question by
bb
I had a snail a while ago that exhibited some odd behavior that i've
wondered about. I don't know what species of snail it was, but it was
about the size of a walnut, maybe slightly larger. It was the only
snail I had in my 10 gallon tank, and I think I had 3 small fish in it
as well. The snail...

Corydoras for harder water? by
Paul McGuinness
Hi
I've had a tank set up for about 8 months now (still a newbie ) and
lurking this group for 6.
Here in London UK the water is very hard and pH is around 8.2. I have
had several peppered corydoras but they have lasted only 4 to 6 weeks
before succumbing to what seems a bacterial infection that...

Feeder Fish in a Pond by
asginpg
I have been cycling a tank with feeder fish. The tank is cycled and
the fish all seem healthy and in fact have grown during the process.
My newbie friend lost her pond fish (came with the house) over the
winter due to some unfrotunate mistakes. She wants to start again and
I thought I might wait...

Anyone in the Washington DC Greater Metro Area have any

I've visited the two in Leesburg, both have been there a long time,
and must have something going for them to remain in business.
Tonight I...

More babies! by
Karen Garza
This morning when I went to feed the 5 guppy fry that were born last
week I found 7 more fry swimming around the tank. I think they are Platy
fry. One of the fry got eaten by another fish while I was trying to
catch it. I went shopping today for a brine shrimp hatchery and brine
shrimp eggs but...

Keeping live plants? by

Hello,
My question is how many hours of
light do you recommend to keep live plants? I have a 55 gallon freshwater
tank and just purchased a dual light to go along with my single strip light.
That will give me 120 watts, I replaced the stock bulbs with power glows and
took out the carbon in my...
