about 25 total. The largest have grown to about an inch and a half. Even
the largest from the latest breeding have reached an inch. There are 3
little fish, however that refuse to grow. I've watch closely at feeding
time for...

African cichlid question by
Sarah Navarro
I have some holey rock in my cichlid tank, but I really like the look of the
purple barnacle shells. Would these be okay for an african cichlid tank in
addition to the holey rock? Would the fish go inside the barnacles?

Duckweed by
Ed VanDyke
I've had duckweed growing on the surface of my aquariums for about 7 years,
ever since I used it to diffuse light for some red-bellied piranha I had at
the time. It seems to keep nitrates in check and really limits algae
growth. My Cichlids seem fond of eating it (usually when I'm out of town
and...

Question about Cichlid by
Erick Koob
A few years ago, I bought some cichlids and in doing so, purchased some
labeled "Acci" I think they are peacocks. Their bodies are fully dark, with
whitish/yellow to yellow fins on the lower front. Since then I have not
been able to find this specimen around. Does anyone know what I am...

Hi,
I have a friend at work that has a tank. He claims that his Texas cichlid
(f)and his convict (m) mated, laid eggs and they hatched and he has like
100 fry! I have been an aquarist for many years, but I am unfamiliar with
this cross breeding. Also, I looked in my book and I cant even find...

Sof****er Cichlids by
Samuel Warren
I need a suggestion on some Cichlids that are easy to care for, may produce
fry, and who thrive in my soft water. I taking all 76 3 month old platy fry
to the LFS for a credit. I have 4 community tanks, so I thought perhaps I
would try some Cichlids. They will start off in a 10 gallon tank and...

Gravel in mouth corrected post! by
Dave Schofield
I have 1 cichlid that is about 3 inches and has very small gravel in his
mouth!!! Why?
I have removed 1 piece, it was much smaller than his mouth and loose inside,
so he could have easily spat it out himself.
The bottom of his throat is drooping/bulging slighly as if his mouth is
stuffed with...

Maybe get a Blue Ram? by
winddancir
I will be getting a 30 gal tank soon, and am seriously thinking about getting a pair or trio of Bue Rams. The only other fish I would have in there are adult male guppies(10-15), and maybe 3-4 corys (still thinking on corys).
Anyone have any suggestions on how this might work out?

They were in a 40 gallon tank and were all getting along just fine for more
than 3 years. The day before yesterday, I moved them into a 100 gallon

Uncontrollable High pH by
Deepseafisher
The water here is off the chart on my test strips for ph and Total
alkalinity (kH, I believe). Is there anything I can do to lower the
Alkalinity, and then the pH, preferably without changing the hardness?
The hardness is just right, it runs right around 120 ppm. I've tried
just about everything,...

New strain of Blue Rams in LFS by
Jim Anderson
I live in Minnesota, USA, and for as long as I can remember all the Blue
Rams (Mikrogeophagus ramirezi) have been the 'German Blue Rams' from the
stock of German breeders that had bread a more colorfull (?) strain.
They are torpedo shaped, about 1/2 as high as they are long, with a flat
back and...
