Yellow lab being harassed by
Satyen Kale
I have a 55 gallon tank with 1 male and 2 female yellow labidochromis
caeruleus. For the past few days, one of the females has been getting
harassed by the male and even the other female. She has been taking
refuge behind the heater. This morning, I noticed that her tail fin
was badly bitten and so...

New owner (almost) by
Russ
My wife is wanting to get a south american cichlid from PetCo. They
are like $5.99 for the small ones.
We have never owned a fish, so we're trying to research as much as we
can online. Does anyone have any good recommendations for tank
decorations, size, gravel, additives, websites to order...

I may owe WalMart, PetSmart apology-- by
Mark Stone
:-)
I have long railed against Wal Mart and Petsmart for selling Pacu and
claiming an adult size of only 10 or 11 inches -- common knowledge is
that Pacus grow into huge fish. My issue was that they were selling
these wonderful fish to people with "small" hundred gallon setups,
another example of...

A pair of Kribs in a Platy tank? by
Hamlet
I've got a 40 Breeder tank that I'm cycling with Platies. My
intention was to put some corys in for the bottom, but my reading has
got me interested in Cichlids. Some questions:
Are Kribs a good choice for beginner cichlid? Rams were another that
were suggested to me, but from what I've read...

Nitrate Shock by
Phil
I've read a few times in the past posts about being careful of 'nitrate
shock' from doing large water changes on tanks that have high nitrate
levels.
Could someone fill me in on a safe level of nitrate reduction over a given
time and also links to any articles that explain the 'nitrate shock'...

Fish Houses by
MidasX
Has any one had any experience with a fish house?
I am considering build one to house and continue breading my African
Peacocks
And maybe some new world cichlids but I would like to get some ideas
on this subject before I sink some money in to it.

What South/Central Americans for 55? by
Mark Cooper
In the near future I will be setting up a new 55 gal. with the idea of
having South or Central American cichlids. The local water is quite hard,
which my Malawis and Brichardi love. What I was hoping for is a "Cichlid
Recipe" for some New World cichlids.
Locally, convicts, jack dempsey, green...

Fluval 404 leaking???? by
CanadianCray
Has anybody seen this before. I have a Fluval 404. Have had it for over a
year with no problems. I recently got a RainbowLifeguard 300 FBF & hooked it
up inline with the output of my 404. Since that time I have had a small leak
from the filter. I replaced the seal a week ago & all was fine till...

Feeding shy ps. demasoni by
Satyen Kale
I have a newly set up 55 gallon mbuna tank. Currently, the tank houses
4 demasoni, 4 maylandia estherae, and 3 labidochromis caeruleus. The
demasonis are all about 1/2-1" long. They are juveniles and pretty
shy.
My problem is that whenever I feed the fish, the estherae and the
yellow labs snap it...

Which filter? by
Neon
Just wanting an opinion on which filter is better, a HOT-Magnum 250 pro
(with bio-wheel), or an Emporer 400.
It will go on an African Chichlid 75 gallon bow front, along with an
Aquaclear 500.
Thanks,
Neon

New Tank, New to Cichlids by
Keith Hatfull
Hi,
Considering the setup of a new 55G with Africans. Kept lots of SA
cichlids and community tanks as a kid but no Africans. Just a couple
of questions to ground myself:
- Do Africans like a lot of cover in the tank? I'm big into rocks and
stuff and building little caves and overhangs...that a...

Is there a cichlid that fits this description

2) Easy to sell to LFS
3) Breeds with lots of babies
Thanks

10g just sitting here now by
Polarhound
I have a 10g that was used as a quarantine/baby fish tank for almost a
year, until it developed massive amounts of brown algae. All the fish
have since gone on to longer tanks, and it has just been sitting there
filtering for ages. Instead of cleaning out the algae, I decided to let
it continue...
