tank mates for severums by
Tjaard de Vries
hi,
in a 250l tank, I've got a couple of severums, they're doing very fine,
spawn once in a while, nothing wrong with them, a while ago I had two
couples, sometimes both of them spawned.
I've got 5 satanoperca pappaterra as well, but they don't start getting
territorial at all, not too colorful...

Blood parrot question by
Plurality Inc
We have a blood parrot, and we've noticed that he sometimes changes
colour. He will be a light orange for a few weeks, and then overnight
turn a dark orange and be like that for a few days and then go back.
Is this normal, and what causes this to happen?
Thank in...

Warning, the preceding message was a copy of the "Bagel" virus. This

Another "what fish?" post! by
Jamesy
Hi!
I'm completely new to Cichlids, having successfully maintained a thriving
community tank for some time now. I'm also new to this board (obviously) and
(if it makes any difference!) I live in Scotland.
I'm picking up a new tank tomorrow (Juwel Rio 300 - approx 75 US gallons
IIRC - plus a big...

Rebuilding a tank w/ a Jack Dempsey and a Firemouth by
Leo J. Hart IV
Hello,
I'm hoping you guys can give me some advice. I have a 75 gallon
fresh-water tank that used to have mostly African cichlids in it. 6
months ago I moved into a new home and I lost all of them except 1
Jack Dempsey, 1 Firemouth and two catfish. The catfish are 2-3 inches
in size (head to...

Julidochromis ornatus: inbred? by
Tjaard de Vries
first of all, perhaps I'm going to try and keep a couple of these fish in
a 50l tank (I'm doing things metric, just to be clear :)), if you think
that's a bad idea, please say so.
but there's a thing I wonder about: inbreeding. I've got a book by Pierre
Brichard about the cichlids in Lake...

How can I tell if my Labidochromis caeruleus has a mouthfull of eggs? by
Sean
It appears that my female Labidochromis caeruleus has a mouthful of eggs.
She is staying in one area of the tank, eating very little, and, her mouth
appears to be "wrinkled". I am guessing she is holding eggs, not sure how
long she has been doing so. At what point, if ever should I...

KH Test Kit - really needed? by
Richard Phillips
Hello,
There is an article on www.oscarfish.com that advises a KH test kit is one
of the important test kit to own (along with ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH).
I was all set to buy one, but then I spotted some API pH Up (my pH tends to
be on the lower side) and was thinking about buying this...
