att: fishman, re internal tank plumbing (was spend now save later) by Paul
we were saying... hi fishman, I did the same thing, but I just used a piece of piping. I don't know why so many people go to the trouble of sectioning off a corner.. it gets dirty is hard to clean, and it doesn't look any nicer than a discreetly placed piece of black pvc pipe.

Great Mother.. by T
One of my female Kenyi's dropped her brood a day or two ago.. Needless to say she seems to be a very good mother...Anyone comes by the tank, she tries to chase them off, she stands gaurd by her brood like a gaurd.. Never seen my other Malawi's do such an impressive job... -- Tim...

cichlids acting all crazy by steveh28
i have a 20 gal. with mbuna in it. the past week or so, my yellow lab had been sort of affectionate toward my bumblbee (m. Crabro). that had cooled down some, but my yellow lab (which i was 90% sure was a male) now appears to be holding. i am pretty sure this cannot be true, since it is the only...

New Cichlid Tank by MB
Do cichlids usually stay near the bottom? I just got a new 30 gal. tank and I decided to go with cichlids. I have just a few plant decorations in there and they are pretty low. I plan to do a lot more decorations. I know cichlids need some cover, but I wasn't sure if they would move up and down...

Hi, I would like to set up a BIG aquaria for rift valley cichlids i.e. 12ftx2ftx2ft. Is there some I could invest in up front that would save labour time in the long run in doing water changes? tia, Sky.

Recommendations for new set-up by Grover
Howdy. I have decided to once again (after an almost twenty year hiatus) to return to the world of cichlids. I have nothing save gravel and rocks. So, I am looking for recommendations as to what to get--for equipment and for fish. I am looking at a minimum 55 gal tank, but am leaning towards...

Can anyone point me to a source of young healthy angelfish in Southern WI? I'd like to bring in a bunch of small angels for my 90 gallon planted tank. I've tried local stores but the stock is not very impressive. My female in my one breeding pair passed away recently and the male is getting a...

Week1 of a moray eel in a tanganykan + crab tank by Chip
Hi, The shop advised me to add salt if I were to put a moray eel. Since I already have a successful formula in keeping a tanganykan tank, I did not add salt, even though tanganykan cichlids can sustain some salt. It has been one week since inception of a 1 foot moray eel. At first, the moray eel...

I Have a couple of covicts that seem to have paired off.I watched as she plastered a dark rock cave with eggs, then after a few days watched her move hundreds of tiny new borns to a ditch that the male had hollowed out.I noticed that the male does his fair share of cleaning up ,and the female seems...
