Population explosion P Liongior, M Estherae by
A Shaw
These guys are on an unending breeding spree. These fish sacrifice weeks
of eating just so they can go at it again and again. In fact I'm certain
their growth has been stunted by their extra-curicular activities, they
are barely 2.5" long and haven't grown. I bought them at the same time
as a...

Oscars with mouth Disease? by
Kodiak
I have two baby oscars about 2" long in a 38gallon.
When I bought them they were only 1/2" long so I started
them in a 10gallon. One of them has developped like a
whitish grey tinge on his bottom lip. Is that a fungus or
cottonmouth?
Since then I moved them to a 38gallon. Problem dosen't
seem to...

have forgotten which are which. I have posted some pictures to my website,

Help! Alot of my small Malawis have started to scratch themselves on the
sand. They seem to be trying to scatch their gill areas. I have checked the
water parameters & all seem OK. the pH is 8.0, gh 6, no2 0, no3 10. The kh

Sick Mozambique help needed by
Robert MacCara
My adult male mozambique is showing signs of sickness, but I have no idea
what's wrong.
His fins are clamped and a little ragged. He's been hanging about the
surface lately and not eating. His balance is affected as he doesn't seem
to swim "upwright". His missus knows something is wrong as she...

Did I give them too many hiding places ? (fish not seen very often) by
Alan Silver
Hello,
We have recently (ie last week) populated our new cichlid tank. It is a
220 litre tank and has a custom built background, complete with loads of
"caves". See http://fish.alansilver.co.uk/Mark3/ for more details of the
tank, background, caves, etc.
Anyway, the first fish went in last...

Solitary Oscar - OK? by
Richard Phillips
Hello,
Is it ok to keep an Oscar:
a) on it's own, i.e. the only fish in the tank?
b) with other fish, but no other Oscars?
I read that they are a pairing fish, but how important is this to their
well-being really?
Regards,

Pairing up Oscars by
Adrian Delves
I have 5 juvenile oscars (in a 300 litre tank) that I bought at the same
time, all of a similar size, the idea being that a pair might form. They
have grown at different rates and now the two largest (4"?) which are almost
identical are dominating the tank hanging in mid-water at the front....

Fairy Cichlid Neolamp in Acid Tank? by
alex crouvier
Has anyone ever kept a Neolamprologus sp? in a CO2 injected
high light 29C tank? The pH is around 6.6 and gH is between 6-10
(coral chips in the filter).
I just have to separate them from a smaller tank. Two of the Neolamp group
have chased the other three and seem to pair off. I have to remove...

Cichlid show question by
Dan J. S.
I bought a bunch of cichlids at the Chicago show yesterday. I have a 120
gallon, fully cycled tank. I bought about 10 fish (to a tank that had about
6 already). Worrying about the ammonia spike, I added some Amquel. Is this
what most of you do when you buy fish at shows? I saw a lot of folks...

D.S.Kabawhatever is clearly a troll, probably a 12 year old who
doesn't have his Daddy's permission to use the ol' computer. His
involvement in RAFC is entirely limited to this single thread and he
is not, nor has he ever...
