My cichlids seem to breathing heavy. For the most part.... 4 out of 5 of them
seem very active. (4 one 1 1/2 inch convicts, and a 2 inch green terror). They
swim around and eat, but they seem to be moving their gills very rapidly. I do

Cichlid behavior by
Greg Barney
I've had a cichlid tank now for 10 months. I faithfully maintain water
changes, salt buffer, algae control, etc. I have about 14 common cichlid
varieties in an established 55 gallon tank.
To this point, it has been a very harmonious tank, everyone seemingly
getting along, no strange behavior.
I have...

my tests say I don't need water changes by
HumbuckerDaveT.
Hey all,
I'm a first time poster. I did a quick search on my post topic, and
didn't find answers to my question. If my question's been covered
before, please don't reply - I'll look it up myself. Thanks (just
trying to avoid annoying people, but maybe I have already!).
The scenario:
29 gallon...

I am looking for any individuals or stores that have Pelvicachromis

had any luck searching for these on my own. I am located in the Los
Angeles area and don't mind shipping them in from anywhere within the
U.S. Additionally, if...

Nitrate levels by
Phil Bassett
Hi,
I have had a Mbuna tank set up for a few months (post cycling) and have been
doing 25% weekly - 2 weekly water changes to maintain by NO3 below 20mg/L. I
just wondered what other people try to keep their NO3 at?
Cheers,
Phil

post a link to "My pair of Jewels", my Cichlids, not my nuts. As far as I

I'm considering using one of these kits (one of the ones that consists of a
series of increasingly fine sandpaper pads).
The kit says it can be used under water with the fish in the tank, but I'm
concerned about the very fine bits of acrylic that will be liberated causing
gill problems in my...

Jewels suitable for this tank? by
Richard Phillips
Hello,
I have a 180 litre tank, approx 16" front to back, 18" high.
It currently houses 2 Blue Acaras, 5 Buenos Aires Tetras and a Bristlenose
plec.
I spotted some young Jewel cichlids in a local shop, and am very tempted.
I know they are aggressive, but I figure they are smaller than the...

the others in...
