Lymphocystis? by
Mel
We're having a bit of a pond disaster at the moment and I'm hoping for some
tips. We had 10 goldfish/shubumkins in our pond but gradually they have all
died over the past year one by one. We now only have one left. The pond is
about 5 feet wide and 8 feet long and ranges from 3 -5 feet in depth....

[email protected]
I bought some flexible PVC pipe to connect to my pump and filter.
However, I am having problem to connect it with the normal PVC
coupling, due to the surface of the flexible PVC pipe is not as smooth
as a PVC pipe. I have a hard time to push the pipe inside the
coupling. Does anyone have similar...

Cleaner water through nanotechnology by

Tiny particles of pure silica coated with an active material could be
used to remove toxic chemicals, bacteria, viruses, and other hazardous
materials from water much more effectively and at lower cost than
conventional water purification methods, according to...

Aquarium chemistry by
Stumpy
I set up a small aquarium and used de-chlor. Waited a week and bought a
goldfish. After one week it had Ich, used malachite green and raised tank
temperature to 80 deg., it recovered. Then at it's 2 week mark the goldfish
looked ill and had its tail corroding - I assumed with tailrot. Took a...

long-time rec.ponders: hose filter to remove ammonia by
Wendy
Hi Ann,
Long time since I've been here! Hadn't you moved away from Houston?
Anyway, it might have been my post? When I had city water with
chlorimine in it, I used to attach a water filter to the end of my
garden hose and just let it trickle through the filter to add water.
Not the cheapest...

long-time rec.ponders: hose filter to remove ammonia by
Wendy
Hi Ann,
Sorry the link didn't work. Goto www.homedepot.com and type in a
search for 'whole house water filter' The price can vary from $39 to
$70 depending on where you buy it. Yes, it removed the
ammonia/chlorine mixture that was in our water. Before I used it, I
tested the water before it...

long-time rec.ponders: hose filter to remove ammonia by
Wendy
ps, I didn't mean to recommend HomeDepot, it's best to go to a local
hardware store so you can check the threading for the filter. You
might need a small adapter.

I have a backyard concrete pond that measures 12'W x 15'L x 4'D. Until
recently it has been FULL of lilies and a very dense root system,
anchored by substantial sediment. No fish. It has never been filtered
but never had an algae problem because of the amount of vegitation
surface coverage. This...

Help required OASE pondvac 7003 PV by
Chris[_2_]
I inherited the above unit when I bought the house and have just tried
to use it for the first time.
The previous owner has gone off the radar
It appears dead. I have checked power fuses etc, but no joy.
Does anybody know if it needs priming in order to function ?
I would also appreciate the...

Hi! We bought a house with a 5000 gallon koi pond.... They had this
huge box that they used as a filtration system and used 2 pool pumps
for the pond (one for the pond and one for that box) When the
previous owners came to get some fo their fish, they installed a

Trees near pond by
Mothership
Need to know if there are any trees that can be planted in close
proximity (6ft. to 12ft.) to my pond that will not drop anything
(leaves, fruit, etc.) that will wipe out my fish (golds, comets,
shabumkins). Would prefer trees that will reach approx. 20ft with
decent foliage to mask view of small...

Pump is working by
Reel McKoi[_9_]
OK... it looks like an Earl Sheib abortion but it is working. We finally
found someone to work with the ID/OD problems. A 1 1/2" hose leaves the
pump and hits a T. Off the tee, on each side, are reducers (ACE hardware)
that take it to 1"... so there should be no backpressure on the pump. One...

Pondmaster pump part #2 by
Reel McKoi[_9_]
Well he jackbutted around town and there is no black hose anywhere to fit
the 1 1/2" outlet for the pump. The pump has a barb end the hose goes over
and clamps. He couldn't find any reducers that went from 1 1/2" to 1". So
he came home with nothing but clamps. Since he has to go into...

Winterizing Your Pump by

I have an OASE Nautilus 1600 gph pump that I hook up to a pre-filter every
spring to help clear/filter the water in my 3,000 gallon pond until my
biofalls filter kicks in. Then, I disconnect it and usually it sits on the
bottom of the pond until I pull it up and store it. I'm curious as to the...
