Help with closed loop ... by
Joe V.
I attempted to build a closed loop system based on Marc's directions
(http://www.sparklingfloorservice.com/tank/closedloop.html).
The deviations I took are as follows:
- Using a Eheim 1250 pump instead of a Mag 5
- return from pump to SCWD is flexible hose (not PVC). This was due to the

Is Chlorite Safe? by
Harry Muscle
I'm not too sure if there are any rock experts on this group, but I'm
wondering if anyone knows if the mineral chlorite is safe? I'm hoping to use
some black/green slate and apparently the green color is caused by chlorite.
Thanks,
Harry

PH too low. by
Jason Stanley
I have had a 35 gallon tank now for about 2 months. The water is super
clear and the fish seem to be happy and well adjusted.:) My question is how
do I get my ph above 7. I have tried a ton of those tablets that fizz and
and powder that supposedly will fix it but it still remains very low...

Water deposit removal by
Matthew Clark
Try heavy scrubbing with a warm sal****er solution (8 tablespoons of
salt per gallon of water). Failing this, you could try a cleaner (like
CLR) but be sure to rinse the lid well after use of the cleaner.

make your own fluidized bed filter by
jim gravity
I am thinking of making a fluidized bed filter for a tank of less than 50 gallons.
Actually, it is a 10 gallon right now, but I want to make it big enough for 50.
I was going to use a power head for a pump.
Any tips?

Running pipes for Fluval 404 in an S shape ... by
Harry Muscle
I'm gonna be running some custom pipe work in my 55G to provide undergravel
jets. This means I have to make a transition between the pipes supplied
with my Fluval 404 and my 1/2 PVC pipes. I would prefer to make this
transition inside the stand, not the fish tank (long story why). So here's
my...

Rewiring my Workhorse 5 ballast? by
Kristen
Hi, I've got a Workhorse 5 ballast driving a single 96 watt PC bulb.
It's turned out to be too much light for the tank, so I'd like to
drive the bulb at a little lower wattage. Unfortunately, I lost the
documentation that came with it, and I couldn't find the info I needed
on the Fulham website,...

Impregnated Gravel? by

Hi,
I am hoping somebody on this group may be able to point me in the right
direction.
I am doing a high school research project that involves keeping
some fish (specifically, Siamese Fighting Fish). The one that I bought
comes in a small plastic container, with some apparently "special"...

New product coming - "Fishsitter"- monitor your tank when your nothome by
m.dekort
Looking to see how many people might use this.
Going on vacation, on travel to work or even being away for 8hrs can be
a nerve wracking experience. Unless someone checks on your fish every
hour you may not have enough time to solve problems once they start.
By combining off the shelf products...

Born again aquarium enthusiast needs help! by

I've had this 30 hex Oceanic sitting around for a couple years (mainly
because I haven't had the time or money to maintain the hobby). I've been
out of the "loop" of aquariums for awhile and would like to get back into
it. I'm thinking setting this up as a cichlid tank eventually, but am...

Regent Aqua-Tech-5 Impeller Housing by
Kevin Wu
Hi,
I purchased a Regent Aqua-Tech-5 from Wal-Mart (similar to Eclipse
System 6) a few days ago. The impeller housing does not fit into the
pump/filter assembly. The width is correct, but the length is about
1/4" too long. The impeller housing looks slightly different than the
drawing in the...
