NIGHTIME DISCOVERY by RubenD
I took a flash light a couple of nights ago to see what's going on inside my tank after the lights go out, I'd never seen anything other than the obvious. Well, I was surprise to finally see the famous PODS for the first time. My two mandarin dragons perished, I believe due to the lack of this...

Star fish ate my anenome by b0ogger
I caught my chocolate chip star on my anemone (sebae) chomping on him. The anemone died and I let him finish the job. Ever heard of this? I think the next time I get a anemone I am returning the star fish.

Sump by [email protected]
I am looking to build a sump filter for my tank. It is a 125 gallon reef. I am curently using fluidized bed filters, but want to upgrade to a sump with bio balls. The problem I have is that I can't find a pre-made sump that will fit into the opening of my cabinet. I have a 10" opening that I can...

No coraline on astrea snails by Pszemol
I have noticed that every time my LFS has new delivery of astrea or bigger "turbo" snails they come to the store completely stripped of the coraline algae cover on their shells... The texture on the shell does not suggest the coraline algae was there but just bleached and is not longer pink - the...

Cool Under Actinics? by StringerBell
hi, I got my new 192 watt Coralife fixture yesterday. It wasnt everybody`s first choice `round here, but it`s right for me, thanks for your input. My Mushrooms were already doing pretty well, but in less than 24 hours under the new light they have certainly perked-up. They also look awesome...

G'day by miskairal
Hi all, long time since I was last here but I've been hanging out at an Aussie Reef forum which is really way more applicable to me I guess. There are some really nice people there and one even posted me some corallimorphs and another sent me a nori clip, both of which are hard to get when you...

Candy Basslet by StringerBell
Man, this fish looks great and seems to meet the specs I`m looking for. I can only find it on 1 online dealer---and they charge $100!!! (Not a chance for me). That dealer always seems a bit pricey. But I cant find it anywhere else. Does this fish ever pop-up in LFS? I havent seen one around yet.

Feed Shrimp? by KurtG
I dropped by my LFS. I was asking for life brine shrimp, but they pointed me at a tank of live small shrimp at USD $0.29/piece. It could make life interesting for the fish, and I don't see any harm in adding them to the tank. Any thoughts? --Kurt

Q's about filters by KurtG
I have a sump setup, but filtering is limited to something that is fluffy white and looks like polyester batting and then ~40 bio balls. I'm thinking of adding a better filter. My closest LFS (Petland) didn't carry the fluffy white filter, but had a row of filters with clever replacement...

Evaporation by KurtG
I have a 110 gallon tank that seems to evaporate almost a gallon a day. Is that odd? I run my lights about 8 hours a day, live at sea level and in florida which is not exactly dry air. Just curious. I keep looking for a leak, but there is none. I suppose I'll look into covering it...

Mandarin Dragonet - Green by KurtG
I added this guy to my tank: http://tinyurl.com/dshws But, I've noticed a up swing in turbidity of the water. Sure enough, this little guy is putting up a cloud of dust through his *gills*. I thought pods would be enough for him, but it seems that I better feed him better. Where does one...

Newbie question about green algae by Gill Passman
OK....so I've spent the last 10 days fighting off the red slime....as a newly set up tank just over 8 weeks old I was expecting this...it is a 15 gall nano reef....but to my dismay I discover green hair algae has covered up my star corals....I've been blasting the stuff away with a syringe but...

distraught fish fancier by Mike D.
I have a 92 gallon corner tank. the tank is about 18 months old, and previous to now I have not lost a fish, although 2 snails died. I have a sailfin tang, who's fins have sort of melted away, looking like plastic when it melts from heat. The tang is still active and healthy acting, however. I also...

Tunze Nano Skimmer by Steve
Does anyone have any experience with the Tunze Nano Skimmer? I need a skimmer for my 40 reef (replacing BakPak HOB), but am very limited in space in my sump/refugium. The sump has splash dividers that limit the space to about 5" on the intake side, and I don't want to replace the sump. The tank...
