Brown growth on sand by
logan
Well, as some of you know I recently set up a new 7g nano. It was a
departure from my 36g reef as I decided to use sand instead of crushed coral
for the substrate. Well, a few weeks into this and I've noticed a brown
dusting/growth growing on the sand in certain places. What is it? Is it good
or...

I recently have noticed that my sand sifting star has developed a light
blue band on one of it's arms (approx. 1/2" in diameter) Is this
normal?

Don't know about the band, but I want to know why my...

Lobophytum + fungia by
Marc Levenson
No, I've never heard that myself, but that doesn't mean it isn't a fact to the
rest of the world. Perhaps the two of us are in the dark. Grin My Devil's
Hand closes up for a few days, then opens up again bigger than before. Keep an
eye on it for a few days, and check and double check all your...

How to hook skimmer to power head? by
Pete
I have a protein skimmer that needs to have a separate power head.
How do people hook these up?
Any websites with photos?
It looks like the power head needs 7/8" tube and the skimer is 3/4"
Does it matter what tube I use?
I have some nylon reinforced. But it seems too stiff. Hard to make
the...

Nassarius Snails ... by
Joe V.
Any opinions of these snails? I have a 90 gallon tank, and got hold of 100
snails. I want to build a cleaning crew of turbo snails, emerald crabs, etc.
Are nassarius snails good critters to put into this mix? If so, what would
be a good ratio?

Eclipse brand tanks by
John-Paul
Hey all.
I'm getting back into the SW hobby after about 3 years of living
without any fish whatsoever (Did he say living without fish?!
Infathomable!).
I'm thinking of investing in a small 12 gallon Eclipse system because
im pretty limited in funds (damn college), but what worries me is...

Mushroom Parasite? by
Royce
Some of my mushrooms are infested with what looks like a parasite, but I
can't find any information on them. I have several different types of
mushrooms, but the infestation seems to be limited to one or two types. The
ones they're concentrated on are dark grayish-green and have a...

Clumps appearing in substrate by
Marc Levenson
The bristleworm is fine, leave it.
The crab could be a problem. I'd try to get a picture of it. Does it have red
eyes? Would you describe it as muscular? I had one that for some reason
reminds me of a gorilla. LOL
Try to break up the clumps. I get them as well. It could be related to...

Water parameter and test strip questions... by

sort of anyway.. I picked up some Mardel test strips today, they say for
salt and fresh.. The 5 in 1 tests for NO3 NO2 pH and total
alkalinity/buffering. I have been worried about my 10 gallon tank (the 55 is
perfect at the moment after testing) And I also got one for ammonia.. The
tests for the 10...

Drop-In Water Chillers? by
Mark Haseltine
I had a problem recently with an extremely unreliable Rio submerged pump
running my wet-dry filter on a 75 gallon sal****er tank. It failed during a
power outage while I was on vacation, and took out the majority of the fish
in my tank...I'm still recovering from the carnage.
I immediately went...
