10 gal. planted question.... by
Jimbo
I'm setting up a new "low light" 10 gal. aquarium. I'm going to use a 15
watt flourescent with a standard hood with no glass between the water and
bulb. Tank will have flourite substrate and full of "low light" plants such
as Anubias, Bolbitus H., Rotalla Indica, and Java Fern Narrow, Lace,...

DYI CO2 generator and cloudy aquarium by
S.Holmes
Hello all.
I decided to try a DIY CO2 generator (soda bottle, yeast, sugar) in my
aquarium (about 63 gal). I used a valve preventing aquarium water siphoning
into the bottle. What about the other way round? How can I prevent yeast
mixture from getting into aquarium?
Couple of days ago the...

Advice on lighting for a 75 gallon tank by
Ron Nelson
With it being pc lighting I think you could be OK... I have a 75 with 4x65
watts and co2 that I actually only run 4x65 for about 6 hours in the middle
of a 12 hour light cycle. My glosso (loves lots of light) seems to hug the
gravel pretty well and spreads very fast. Which to me is at least...

Advice for carpet look. by
ferlin husky
Hi, What kind of plants would be good for a nice carpet look in the
foreground. I have a 30g tank with 55w pc lighting. I will be soon adding
pressurized co2 and a 100% flourite substrate. I know that many of the
"carpet type" plants like Lilaeopsis require high light but 55w is all I...

Echinodorus div. rundbl by
Graham Ramsay
I got one of these for just two pounds last week.
It's a little tatty but looks like it will be a beauty.
Does anybody know if it has a synonym as I can't
find jack about it anywhere?
(And how on earth do you pronounce that name?)

Compact Smartlite vs Regular Flourescence by

Is a watt a watt? I was told by a dealer that the compact smartlite
is a lot more intense so I don't have to follow the 2.5 watts per
gallon rule to grow plants. Is this true?

Tropica Master Grow in Denver area? by
Chuck Gadd
I'm looking to buy some Tropica Master Grow in the Denver area.
Unless some store locally has it cheap, my plan is to buy a 5 liter
size from Big Al's Online for $50.00. That's about half the price
when buying it by the 500ml container ($10.99 for a 500ml container at
Big Al's).
So, does anyone...

Overdosing by
Cam
Hello everyone :0
I recently won part of a battle with cyanobacteria by dosing nitrates (salt
petre). The cyano slowly over a period of days began to recede, a few tufts
of algae have appeared on leaves since then but nothing serious. What I need
to know is when you are dosing ferts how long do...

Oops by

Hello Group
I read a thread earlier about the ammount of co2 in the tank and how to read
the chart at Chucks amazing website. I know that the chart does not work if
you have added buffers to the tank. My problem is that I have not taken a
co2 reading as yet cause I don't have the test kit to...

anubias yellowing by
sexandcheerios
Recently my anubias has been yellowing a little here and there. I came back
from long trip the other day and one of the leaves is completely yellow (a
bright bananna yellow at that). Is there some nutrient missing? I know it
gets plenty of light because my cabomba in the same tank is growing like...
