CO2 Injection by
^*^ Vosklady ^*^
Hello . . . :)
I will be receiving some plants soon and have been wondering about CO2
injection. I've been reading all day regarding the subject at various places
around the Net. I'm thinking of going the DIY route (yeast, sugar, etc) and
I'm curious as to how I could use my Aqua Clear 802...

To filter or not to filter by
S.Holmes
Hello all,
I started to add some nutrients for the plants in my aquarium (I got some
Dennerle stuff, don't know if this name is known overseas). Internal filter
in my aquarium (~63 US gal) has an active carbon layer in it. Instruction
for use of those nutrients say nothing about filtering the...

solenoid by
Josh
ok, i have done all my research and have now figured out that I can set up a
pressurized Co2 system pretty cheap by jsut getting a dual guage reg from a
beer supply, etc... the only difference I can really see between the JBJ and
this is that the JBJ comes with the solenoid. Do I need that...

Need help deciding lighting system. by
Bill Beam
I've got a 20g high setup (30 watts - two 15" bulbs) with Eclipse
hood. I added a CO2 system and now all I get is algae although
plants are OK and growing better. But I've got to get more light
because I can't get rid of the algae and you 'all told me that
something must be out of balance - so...

White Cloud Mountain Minnow Breeding Habits by
Sam
I have had 3 batches of babies from what I believe to be two breeding pairs
of white cloud mountain minnows in my 10 gallon natural planted tank. There
are currently 9 fish in the tank, but most of them are very small. The
weird thing about this is in all three batches of babies, there have...

Best way to clean plants to prevent snails? by
Michael Stachowski
Howdy,
I finally got my 55 set up and have some plants
from the 10 I've been running that I'd like to transfer
cuttings from to the new tank. Only problem is, you
guessed it, the 10 is infested with snails. What can
I 'wash' the cuttings in that won't kill them but also
won't allow the snails to...

Advice on setting up a new tank with a sand only substrate by
Michael
Following the advice of my neighbor, one month ago I set up a 15 gallon
planted tank with 1" potting soil and then 1" of black quartz. This turned
out to be a big disaster. The fertilizer fueled massive algae growth. The
potting soil turned the water brown/green. Finally, two shrimp started...

Are these tubes OK? by

I'm fish-sitting a mate's aquarium and using it to get all the cycling media
ready for my own new tank which arrives in a few days. The new one is 48" x
18" x 22" (US 75 gal), has 3 tubes. I aspire to it being a quite densely
planted tank. Here is what the guy in the shop sold me for...

New SAE: Is this normal? by

I bought a new SAE today. Since I introdiced him into the aquarium almost 9
hours ago, he has been restless. He swims up and down the glass aquarium
walls completely ignoring any flake food and black brush algae on my bacopa
(reason I got him). The other fish in the aquarium are perfectly...

Good thread algae eater for 15 gallon tank with live plants by

I just set up my tank 1 week ago and put in 3 kinds of plants that my friend
gave me. Unfortunately they had some thread algae on them (he has it pretty
bad) and now it's growing in my tank. Some of the leaves are already dying
so I'd like to get something that can eat the algae. Most of the...

Malaysian Trumpet Snails by

Hello Everyone,
I've just bumped into this forum whilst surfing for info on MTS's.
It's nice to find an aquatic gardening site that's based in the UK :-)
I live in the North West of the UK (well actually North Wales but I
work in Manchester) and I'm trying to source some MTS's for my tank.
Does...
