Anhoring Pond Plants by
Paul
Hi, does anyone have any tricks on how to keep taller marginal plants from
tipping over in the wind? Seems no matter
how much i weigh them down, they tip over. Also, what does it mean to
seperate plants after three years and is using regular soil any
good?..........Thanks................

Ultraviolet (UV) Filter / Sterilizer by
John Miller
I want to install a UV sterilizer in my pond, but would prefer to construct it myself, partly because I'm a retreaded engineer, and partly because I'm sure I can do it for considerably less than the cost of retail units. Does anyone know of a web site or newsgroup that covers construction details,...

invader
Can anyone help me, I have recently lost two large goldfish in my garden
pond. The water is perfect and all seems well in the pond but when I opened
up the last fish it was overflowing with eggs. I now have another
apparantly healthy fish following the same symptoms, very very fat and
drifting...

DC.
Hi,
We live in the UK & have a 25 gallon plastic cold water tank & i was just
wondering how many comets/goldfish i can keep in it. I had 3 x 2" comets &
they grew to about 5" for about 3 years until they all died when we were

UK - POND PLANTS SOUGHT by
Misty
Can anybody supply me with two plants I am seeking for my pond?
Firstly a water soldier - a native or hardy one and not one sold at an
aquatic centre grown under tropical conditions!
Secondly an aquatic plant that grows in and out of the water and looks like
a feathery pine tree?
Willing to...

Building a raised pond..help! by
Anyone know where I can find a place online that offers a step by step guide
on how to build a raised pond? I have already purchased a preformed Liner,
Pump, Filter etc. Any help much appreciated. I'm a complete newbie to this.

Comet Goldfish by
Randy Farnsworth
I have a pair of comet goldfish that have outgrown their indoor tank,
so I was going to put them in my neighbor's pond. Does anyone know how
big these will grow? One person told me they can get up to 12" long in
the right environment, but that seems like a stretch (ha!) to me.

empty pond by
Oxymel_of_Squill
came home from a week away to find the lilly pond all but empty. Bit
mystified as there's no sign of a leak anywhere and the walls of the pond
beyond the plastic liner don't feel soggy. And the fish pond level had
dropped less than an inch (we've had a couple of dry weeks).
Same thing happened...

what to paint pond with? by
Big Bill
One of my buds has extended his fishpond. He took out the old fibre
bottom, extended the pond, concreted the interior, then painted it
with normal waterproof exterior paint. Is this ok or will it kill the
fish, he wonders, a bit late in my opinion? I know there is such stuff
as pond-paint; should...

Water Gardening Again... by
DRBeck
I had a very nice little water garden several years ago but I had to give it
up after having back surgery. I am just getting started again and I only
have access to some of the most common plants. I am hoping some of the
really kind and generous folks here that helped me get started the first
time...

Giant Papyrus question. by
Dances With Ferrets
I've had dwarf papyrus for years and have been thrilled with how
easily it has thrived and reproduced. All I had to do was lop a few
heads off an existing plant and plant the heads in wet potting soil,
and a new plant would spring forth from each head. My question
revolves around a giant papyrus...

Looking at building a pond but.... by
daryl wilde
The cost of the skimmer and filter box are expensive ~$500 or more. Has
anyone seen plans to build one? Any special concerns??
Thinking of using either external quality (CDX) or marine grade plywood and
then covering with liner......comments. Expect the pond to be 6 ft x 8 ft
or so and 18-24in...

Love water and gardens...but need advice! by

My yard in Durham, NC, has the perfect place for a two-level wate
garden with a rock falls inbetween. I am a veteran gardener, but
novice with water gardens. I love the sound and sight of moving water
but hesitate (read, "chicken out") when it comes to installing wate
because of what seems like...

Advice on Chemical Levels by
SA
Hopefully someone can shed some light on this ...
I have had a few dead fish which led me to check the chemical levels in my
pond (using the same kit I have for my tropical tank) and this is my area of
concern.
pH 8.8+ (that's as high as my scale goes)
Amonia 0ppm
Nitrite 0-0.25ppm

UV Clarifyers by
Jazzman
Anyone out there use a UV clarifyer, and if
so, was there a dramatic difference in water
clarity?
Just want to make sure " the end justifies the means".
Will I be spending $300.00 for something that will not improve
water conditions above and beyond what the plants are
giving me now?
