Blue Crabs by
bk
I live in South Florida and we get large blue crabs at this time of year.
I know I have some in the yard right now. I saw one on the bottom of a pool
last week.
Anyone ever loose fish to these guys.

Raccoons munch on Water Hyacinth by
Rob
Yep, we have lots of raccoons here in the middle of San Francisco.
Last night they feasted on my new Water Hyacinth, leaving mulch.
Meanwhile, they disrupted some of my pond liner in the vege filter
where the WH was, and the 400 gallon pond was down to about 200.
Where is my attack cat when I need...

overgrown root system by
[email protected]
My friend has a 32" deep pond. The lilies have taken over. Now the
roots are taking up 24"'s of the pond.
Any suggestions on how to get rid of the roots without killing the
fish, frogs and everything else?
Thanks,
Dave

we tried someting new by
Ann in Houston
A couple of years ago, when we built the big pond, DH was interested in
spraying it with truck bed-liner instead of dropping in a liner. I checked
into it, and was told several reasons why it wouldn't be good on a cinder
block tank. But, since he was determined to find some kind of good...

Bentonite for potted pond plants by
Roy
Been experimenting with some bentonite I had to plant potted pond
plants in, and it works great. Kitty litter is commonly used to plant
potted plants in ponds, and kitty litter is mainly bentonite.
I have mixed bentonite with regular garden soils and bagged soils with
good results. (Ratio I have...

Slowly getting the game fish removed by
Roy
Have had folks fishing the pond pretty hard, and while I also have
been fishing it, its a slow method. Lately I have been baiting the
fish with a scoop of feed tossed out, and then once they (bream and
catfish) start to school to feed, I have been using a 10 foot cast net
to catch them. Tried a...

Dopey Fish and a Lotus by

Some of my dopey fish have uprooted a lotus. The tubor has been floating for
months, and growing just fine. How you do like them apples, Nedra? Anyway, I
don't think these floating tubors will make it through the winter.
I was thinking of waiting until the leaves brown out, and then cut the...

We are considering several ideas for the patio that will go up to and maybe

If you have it, or are in the store and they have one, look on...
