10 foot diameter stock tanks

Went to pick up feed for the goats today and noticed they just got a
shipment of super heavy duty blue poly water tanks for livestock in.
Dimensions is 22"deep x 10' diameter. Has a 1 1/2" threaded drain
plug on a recess channel on the bottom, and the top lip is really
heavy duty and rolled over into a square shaped letter C. The top edge
is perhaps a good 3/8" in thickness so it takes up to cattle etc
leaning against it. Made by Beehm (Sp?) company. Price is only
$146.00........Be a decent sized preformed pond..........but would be
even nicer if it was available in black.....but the blue is not bad
looking....Oh yea, it also has a 20 year warranty againt sun damage
and such, and has UV inhibitors.

We have one of those for a hospital tank. I never can get used to the
color. The lip on ours is like that too, but it cracked. To be fair, I
think that was from tipping it up on its side to dump out the last of the
water that was too low to drain. I actually drilled a hole just under the
lip and would manipulate it over some kind of recess or "dog-dug" hole in
the ground to get the water out. I love the depth of ours. It's deeper
than the one you saw. But, it's not as big in diameter. I'd love to get
one as deep as ours, but ten feet across like that one. Besides, like I
said, I hate the color. Some kind of good paint is called for here, maybe.
You might find something interesting under a thread titled "What kind of
paint". I was asking about painting milk crates and some good ones were
mentioned.

I should have mentioned it, but didn't. The depth size listed was to
a ridge below the lip. The lip is approx 3 or 4 inches higher than
the depth from the bottom to this ridge. The ridge is perhaps 1" wide
so times that by 2 and overall width by my tape meaure would be 9' 10"
and the overallheight wold be better about 26" so you can easily have
22 inches of water or up to say 24" of water in it if you fill it
over the first stepped lip. This blue color is, well, not bad, but
would nicer if it was darker blue, instead of a sky blue color. It
wold probably remind you of a swiming pool with the color it is when
filled with water.


I seen the ultimate container yesterday on my rounds scrounging up
odds and ends. Its a swim in place pool. Overall water depth is 60"
and its 10 feet wide by 14 feet long.........has all kinds of jets and
also skimmers, and has built in recesses and ledges to hang on for
inwater exercising, and 6 built in benches along the sides for use as
a hot tub.......Fully enclosed sides made of cedar, and the container
is fiberglass. You could actually get in this and swim with the
fishes. Biggest draw back is it costs $11,000 delivered plus taxes.

I usually stop at local hot tub delaers and pool stores and pickup
scrounge items. Yesterday Ipicked up total of 5 Hayward pump/filter
baskets........2 small circulaitng pumps for hot tubs, and 2 sand type
filter containers with internal plumbing and external
valves......Pumps should be fixable, some have motors burned out other
have bad pumps, but a little time and fiddling should get a few pumps
up and running......Have to go back and pick up one discarded hot tub
yet, whichI figure should make a suitable small pond once the holes
from the jets etc are sealed up. Nothing a little fiberglass patching
wont solve, and the shell removed fromthe enclosure and set into the
ground........its an 6-8 person hot tub, and has a rough texture
white/creame and tan finish.. Hey if its free its for me!

How long do you think it would take to look essentially "muddy green",
though? I suppose if you _wanted_ it to get all algae covered, it
wouldn't...

You can usually find "scratch & dent" versions...
