What type of pipe for bottom drain by
Ralph
I have my hole almost done. Went to look at 4" pipe for bottom drain and
found a variety of pipe types. There is "sewer and drain pipe" with styrene
fittings, Schedule 40 & 80 pipe, and corrugated pipe. I ruled out the
corrugated pipe which is flexable because it appears that waste would
collect in...

Found large source of free plants by
Roy
Went to buy some rocks today for half barrel. On the way I spotted a
huge swampy area. So on the way back I stopped and pulled over off the
road and went out to have a look. I no sooner pulled over and another
vehicle came up and stopped and a fellow got out. He asked me what
Iwas doing, and I said...

Great Blue Heron by
Carolyn
Beautiful bird! But not in my backyard!! Looks like all my fish are still
there from what I can tell, but they sure were spooked. Usually they will
come right up to my voice, but I didn't see any fish at first. I thought,
"OH NO!, it got them all!!!" Phew, close call, putting up fishing line...

Upgraded pond by
Alex Woodward
I have just up-graded my garden pond from 1000 litres to approx 6500 (1717
US gal 1429 imp' gal) - 7000 litres. Is it ok to put the fish (Sarasa
comets) back in straight away? Unfortunately I could only save about 20 imp
gals of the original pond water, but hope this will help to kick start the
new...

My Plea for Help (Hole in bottom of pond liner?) LessonLearned. by
Bette E
It's been two weeks and I'm sorry to have taken so long to get back to
all of you helpful folks. I've been besieged by health problems. There
was no hole in the bottom of the pond liner as we thought.
First, I want to thank Jennifer Tieche of "Serenity Ponds" here in
Central Ohio, for her...

Bugged by water beetles by
RP
I have a small 100 gal pond in Dunedin, FL. Some small black water beetles
are eating my water lily and mosaic plant. I was hoping the two 4" koi
would take care of them, but no luck. Any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated.
Thanx,
Rob P.

String Algae and and Blanket Weed by
Ken Russell
Okay, I've done my testing of AlgaeFix from Pond Care, and I can
unequivocally say it gets rid of String Algae and Blanket Weed.
Be patient, it takes a few weeks to bring it under control, but it works.
Further details are on www.pondcare.com

It's been over two years, but I finally have both a newsgroup connection and
pond plans.
It's nice to see that some of the old regulars are still here.
Life goes well here in Nova Scotia. We can't keep the sort of pond I had in
Ontario, given the herons, kingfishers and ospreys (I doubt an...

Minor pond disaster by

Woke up early to put the trash out this morning, as the masked bandits
prevent putting it out the night before. Decided to look at the pond before
stumbling back to bed. HOLY CRAP BATMAN!, where did all the water go? The
poor little pump was sitting there trying to suck out the last bit of...

Interesting night by
J.D. Stone
I've suspected cats have been around my ponds, but the sides are steep so
the fish haven't been bothered. I also have a doggy door for my Schnauzer.
I've had it for 12 years with no problems. Last night I heard noises in the
kitchen. I figured a critter had come in. Sure enough. Dog scared him when...

Water chemistry, new pond, new ponder by
Rob
Oh, I'm an excited new ponder. After a month of recovering from a
back injury (due to digging out my 400 gallon pond!), I put in the
liner & water, ran the electricity and turned on the pump. The short
waterfall with small veggie filters isn't running yet, but the pump
pushes the water through the...

Yes this is only related to a tangent subject, but it seems most things the

knowledge:) Originally started on this idea as a hospital or isolation
tank, but like ponding one thing grew to another and now we have a used...
