Advice Please on Flexible Liner Edge Treatment by
Davy
I have constructed a wildlife pond using a flexible liner. The pond is
almost full now and so I need to do something urgently about finishing the
edge.
I had in mind that the flexible liner should upturn vertically for about an
inch all round the edge. My reason for this is that if the earth...

Any tips by
Manky Badger
I'm starting digging a pond today. the plan is that it's 4 metres long, 2
metres wide, and going down in steps to a maximum of 2 metres deep.
Anyone got any tips?
Some questions spring to mind - can I just dig the hole & line it - will the
sides cave in?
If I (as I hope to) use the soil from the...

Backyard Stream? by
[email protected]
I have a small 50 gallon pond. I'm getting an urge to dig out a stream,
maybe 15-20 foot in length, 18 inches wide, 6-12 inches deep.
I'd lead it to my pond and make that the terminal. Water would pump out
from there and through a tube up to the stream source.
It seems too simple. Anybody running...

How to Build a Pond Overflow? by
Davy
My recently installed wildlife pond with a flexible liner is filling rapidly
with rain and it can only be few weeks before it overtops. I want to
control where the water overflows rather than let it settle anywhere. So I
think I need a sluice. I say 'think' because none of the books I've...

Dirty Pond. Newbie Pondkeeper. by
Jasper
I have just moved into a new house where there is an (approx) 4500 litre
pond which is filthy dirty and is full of algae. There does seem to be quite
a lot of goldfish in there, although it's impossible to count them as they
are only just visible when they come to the surface for food. There are...

Pig frog or bullfrog by
Gail Futoran
My husband, who usually leaves for work before dawn, reported seeing a large
green frog in the driveway several days ago. Coming home late last night
from an evening with friends, I saw the culprit myself, on the driveway in
the lit area. He's solid dull green, about 6-7" long, and looks like...

Fish feeding by
BoyPete
Am I right in thinking that fish won't feed in the dark? I'm rapidly
approaching the time of year when I leave for work in the dark, and arrive
home from work in the dark. This presents a feeding problem. Thoughts??

Are Limestone Pebbles Likely to Cause ph Problems? by
Davy
I intend to put stones or pebbles in my wildlife pond which won't have any
fish apart from maybe the odd stickleback. My preferred pebbles are
limestone but I have seen a warning against using limestone pebbles because
they can change the ph. Should I take this warning seriously?
thanks, Davy

spawning media by

I want to let my koi spawn, because I want new fish but I don't want to
quarantine them. I have prevented hatching by not providing cover, so the
eggs are eaten up. What do y'all think of this idea.
I thought of getting shower scrubbies and stringing them tightly on a cord,
like popcorn...

somewhat limited selection of pumps designed to be used with solar. I
know the different requirements and operating conditions that...
