Heron Strikes here...... by
Steve and Lisa
This morning I looked out the back door and 10 feet away stood a Blue Heron.
Originally could only find one fish.....now I see two. Had six before his
visit......hoping more show up.
I've since ran out to Lowes and Home Depot.....found a net at Home Depot for
$6.90. Hard lesson to learn, NET IT....

Extreme Makeover - POND Edition by
THE Old Man
I have been lurking for many months now beginning last summer and
going thru the snow and ice of the winter and now the springtime.
When spring was coming on I could feel the excitement and impatience
in the posts and read where some even started a bit too soon. I LOVE
IT!
Due to the many "cool"...

New Pics by
Benign Vanilla
I cleaned up my website and posted some pics of Shareholders pond, and the
local inhabitants. I've also been taking semi weekly pics of the VF (who's
idea was this? Ingrid? Nedra?) so others can see how it changes over time.
Enjoy...

Duck problem by
Fred
Recently I lost two fish from my above ground pond. About the same time,
several ducks were seen around neighborhood swimming pools. Can't say for
sure that the ducks had breakfast on my fish, but what would be the best way
to keep them away from my pond?
Thanks for your help.

Fish recommendations for stream - Part 2 by
tg
Recap of last post:
100 foot long backyard stream, 5800 gph Sequence pump, Savio Skimmer, need
to know what type of fish to get that would do well in a shallow stream. It
is about 3-4 feet wide and 12 " deep at center only, shallow edges. Fairly
good current near the skimmer.
Results:

clarify by
Pond Diver
I should have clarified my original post. The wife thinks the algae bloom
came from the kitty litter cloud. While I'm inclined to agree. I think its
also due to the hanging basket at the edge of my POND! (can you tell I hate
it?)
btw...she said no to the "Pond Cam" idea for my website :-( ...

Hyacinth Experiment by
Heather
After reading many ways to try and keep Water Hyacinth over winter I tried
the following:
1. Placed a plant in a quart jar in a sunny window. Kept water topped up.
2. Placed a plant in a floating tub under grow lights from 7am to 11pm.
3. Placed a plant in a net bag and sunk to the bottom of...

I found Atlantis in my pond !!! by
Tom-Alex Soorhull
Oh yes, I think I'm rich now, nobody ever thought that Atlantis was in
my pond.An archaelogical sensation !
I recommend to check your ponds, too, there could be hidden treasures,
sunken islands or old pirate ships hidden inside, too !

Help - Larvae identification by
ttalbls
When I went to clean my skimmer box I noticed a large number of small
wriggly black larvae attached to the pump intake. It is a slotted piece of
PVC pipe. I am using a Sequence 5800, a 5800 GPH pump. I see them both at
the intake area and attached to the strainer in the priming pot. Some hold!

He's all for it but neither of us know what damage we might do. There are
currently no fish in it but a lot of frogs and turtles.

Should Iallow a box turtle in the pond? by
Mike Patterson
We have box turtles all over around here, I have several goldfish and
"shiners".
If one of these box turtles shows up in the pond, would it be a
problem?

we're looking to refurb our pond with something like the fluid art
system. a few questions:
1) how do you calculate the size of the liner you will need?

I sunk to a high in ponding by
Benign Vanilla
Sunday I traded a bottle of beer for a rigid pond liner. Location TBD, but I
think it will be up by the deck in a dead area that we don't use at all
except to pile junk. I wish I were joking about this, but I am not.
