Bog/Veggie filters DIY quesiotns. by
The~Doofie~ManŠ
I'm damn sure I'm going to need more filtration for my pond. I have set
aside an area for this. It just so happens I had made the area while
designing the pond, so lucky me. The area is about 4-5"s deep. I can
elongate it with sand & pea rock if I have to too add the filter.
Do I have to have all...

Calculating water lift? by
The~Doofie~ManŠ
Exactly what is the proper way to calculate water lift?
Let's say I have a 10' total rise and my pump is a 300gph.
How do I figure out the new gph?
There must be a simple/ standard formula.
BTW, the information and friendliness in this ng is rather unique. The posts
& info has helped me...

JP
Dear all,
I have a pond in NW England about 20ft across and about 4ft deep, with a
regular supply of water running in and out of it. It was dredged this
winter, and at the moment is full of green frothy scum that seems to be
coming up from the bottom in whispy strands that we scrape off...

Ammonia by
Benign Vanilla
I tested my bro-in-law's pond yesterday, and he had a few parts per million
in his pond. I recommended he toss some dechlor in, and potentially change
some water. But then I got to thinking...I know we want 0 ammonia, but how
much is really tolerable?

Moving and leaving ponds with fish! Suggestions for new owners? by
Judi9000
I'm moving in 3 weeks. I have most of my fish in my moms ponds but I'm leaving
some of them for the new owners. I will have a little time to give them the
basics on cleaning, etc.. Are there any sites that would be helpful to them on
caring for the ponds and the fish? Thanks, Judi

Newbie here... by
The~Doofie~ManŠ
Greetings from Ontario Canada folks.
I just bought a 550 gallon pond kit. for my mom's backyard. I went medium
sized for her so she can look after it when I move next year. Then I plan
putting my plumbing skills to work and building a 1500ish gallon pond at our
new house.
Anyway I have everything...

drats - fish problem by
Bill
About a month ago I salted my pond to .3%. My in laws were coming so I did
not let the 'treatment' stay a full 2 weeks, as the flashing symptoms had
stopped at .1% and I wanted to show off my pond with all plants back in it.
I treated the kiddie pool plants the day before I put them back in the...

We are new to this pond stuff. So any and all help greatly appreciated.
I just went into the pond to bring up the plants we sunk for the winter and
found most of my kitty litter that we used in pots is on the bottom of the
pond. Guess fish somehow got in and moved it out of pots. Any way to...

snake id - clear pic by

Hi, I have to confess that I am not faithful to rec.ponds. I also read
gardenweb, but those who saw my post on the plant swap thread already know
this. Anyway, one of the readers there took these pics of two snakes in her
filter. She hasn't seen them since the day she snapped the pics, but...

Homer the turtle by
adavisus
He's out there, somewhere, chomping his way through...
Heaven knows what he's doing now. He turned up last year such a tiny
button size, a brand new hatchling turtle in the one pond here with
koi tiddlers 'growing on' in it.
He spent last Summer peeking out from among the rafts of...

Lotus questions by
Bill
I was given a handful of Lotus tubers(?hard white things). I know next to
nothing about Lotus except they are similar to water lilies, diff leaves,
fewer blooms, etc. I 'planted' several with minimal end growth, essentially
as I would a lily, using a cut down 5 gallon container. Shortly a...

I finally admitted to myself that I will never get my website finished.
After working with this stuff all day long, I have no desire to go
home and start working on my own site. Oh well.
Instead, I finally sigend up for a webshots ID and put some photos
there. That's as good as it's going to...
