Nedra,
Your spam filter sent me a message saying my request for your address was
being held as spam. I followed the link and got the message that I was too
slow and the original message was deleted. Anyway, can you email me your
address so I can mail you your hyacinth?

Cement VS Flexible Liner by
Garry M. Silvey
I've ruled out preformed liners and am now looking at Cement VS Flexible
liner. Any suggestions? I have lots of cement working experience, so that is
not an issue. I am looking at building a 2 pond with creek in middle system,
a small pond above a larger pond. Larger pond will probably be 8 X 10 or...

Hi John,
Long time no hear from you.
Are you still around the ng?
I keep thinking of your losses to disease and wonder how that it going now.
Our pond is now in the midst of the first toad singing. The plants are
growing like mad. No babies grew up last year, so I have reduced our

Laguna Filter by
Ken Kociolek
Can someone explain to me how the three section Laguna filter is
supposed to work? This is the one with the bio material in one
section, and a foam type filter in the second and third sections. My
question is regarding the third section; furthest from the pump. This
one does not seem to "filter"...

John Burton
Well here it is spring again, and the pond seems to have made it thru the
winter fairly well!.
Looks like I lost 1 Koi and 3 Comets over the winter (I suspect some racoon
had a good lunch or two, I never found the carcases, so....)
The water is clear, tho I have a bit of algea still growing on...

Pump Questions (and water lily) by
Daniel Phillips
Arg...never had this much difficulty w/ Usenet...I'm very sorry. My
newsreader stuck this in a thread from January two times, so I assume
it has been filed there in the system. Hopefully, anyway. Don't
shoot!
I've decided that I'm probably going to go ahead and get a pump in the
near future. ...

first dragonfly by

The first dragonfly of the season crawled out of
the frog bog today and has been drying its wings
while perched on a cattail stalk.
Another batch of tree frog eggs from jj's pond
arrived today.
Taddies in the tub pond and pondsill are swimming
around.
Lady Bullfrog has disappeared.
For now.

Small fissures/cracks in pond liner by
CHershey
I live in Pennsylvania and I just started my pond filter/pump after
the winter for the first time 2 weeks ago. Today, I noticed small
fissures/cracks in the liner (EPDM) at the edge of the pond where the
rocks had become disturbed and the liner is showing. Has anyone used
Liquid Roof (TM) to fix...

Pumps by
Daniel Phillips
I've decided that I'm probably going to go ahead and get a pump in the
near future. A fish is pretty active and eating, but I wanted to make
both of them a little more livlier and healthier. I could use some
recommendations since I'm clueless even with web and newsgroup
searches. They don't...

vegi filter by

im thinking of growing watercress as a vegi filter. I have a header pool on
my main pond which is 10'x3' and 14" deep. I am thinking of growing
watercress in seed trays floating on the surface. What would you use as a
planting medium? I was thinking of mixing 2 parts gravel to 1 part clay...

Chem strip question by

I use a Jungle Quick Dip Pond Test Kit. When I check the colors against
the chart, I get one result at the 30-seconds recommended to wait before
comparing and another about a minute later. Which is more accurate? The
first shows everything either ideal or acceptable. The latter shows my
KH edging...

safe coatings? by

Mine does too. I just used Behr deck stain. I assumed that as long as the
stain itself doesn't drip into the water it should be ok.

creating a pond to drain water from soggy yard by
Janet Price
Hi,
I have a yard that's soggy in places. The soil's mostly clay and
stones. I had a landscaper out for a free consultation on solving the
problem and he suggested building a small pond (10' x 15' x 4 ' deep at
the deep end) in the low corner of the yard and next year if necessary,
put in some...

A little trick told to me by someone who installed ponds as a business was
to have some pea gravel handy when using "Great Stuff" and cover it with the
pea gravel where it shows. Worth a try.

No more Water hyacinth to give by
joe
Wow, didn't expect quite such a demand. What I will do is get priority mail
boxes and put as much in each box to everyone who wanted some. If I have any
left I'll post again. I'll Email those who wanted some separately from the
list.
Thanks

Yes, i have strings of eggs everywhere. One couple was in the pond and

I am going to set up a small aquarium and keep just a couple inside
until they are toads, then i will release...

Ponds without liners.... by
JNJ
We live on a relatively small lot (50' x 200') and I was thinking about
putting a pond in the back yard in a particularly squishy area. :) The
soil here is clay based and if you dig down far enough (not too far at all)
it's just nasty clay.
Other than lined ponds, I can't say as I know much...
