painting a pond? by aslng
Is it a good idea to paint a concrete pond (underground) used for koi and goldfish to make it look better? I think of using rubber based pond enamel from pond supply. Though, can any rubber based paint from Home Depot or Yard Bird be fine? How about the color? Any suggetion? Sea Green, Blue Mist,...

Permalon in Australia by Han Chung
Hi, Does anyone know of a supplier of Permalon in Australia, or at least in NZ/Asia? Shipping from the US to Australia typically costs more than the liner itself. Regards, Han.

How long to cure cement for fish by Gideon Singer
I am in the process of building a water fall for my pond which has fish in it. I know you need to cure the cement before you can allow water to flow over it into the pond. How long does the curing process need to be before it is no longer a danger to the fish? To email replace...

Pruning overgrown Pickerel by JC
I've got mature pickerel rush and lilly plants that have overgrown their pots and rooted in the pebbles/whatever in the bottom of my 3 1/2' deep, 1300 gal pond. Anachris has grown around, over and through the plants. It's a natural look, which has been healthy, fish are happy and looks ok. But...

Pond with Well Water? by RichToyBox
Generally, well water is good for the fish, and it doesn't require dechlor. Many plants need the minerals. Softened water is not particularly good for the plants or fish, and increases the cost of filling the pond. Check the pH as it comes out of the well, and then run a bubbler in a bucket of...

emptying a pond?... by highe5
I recently moved into a house with a garden with a pond which I do no want to keep and am keen to convert it into a border as it has bee built in that style. My guess would be to empty it by hand as much as possible and the drill a couple of holes through the bottom to let the remaining wate drain...

Snowy pond update by Ron, KC4YOY
Last weekend I posted photos of my patio fish pond in snow. I just came in to take a little break from cleaning out the pond and veggie filter, the outside temp is about 73, the pond water is 62 degrees. What an amazing change in a week, but then that's the way it is in North Carolina. I'm afraid I...

External pump push/pull? by gribbee
I've been using submersible pumps because there is no easy way to hide an external pump around my pond. I do have a wooded slope 20-30 feet away from the edge of the pond, so I decided to snake a stream down the slope with a couple of small vf pools along the way. My plan was to bury flex pvc...

Extending Water to Pond by BenignVanilla
Right now, when I want to fill the pond, I drag a hose out from the house. If I wanted to put a spigot out back by the pond, what would be the best material to use? Can I bury it in the same trench that I am using for an electrical conduit? -- BV. www.iheartmypond.com

Pump Filters constantly clogging by RussellinMD
I live in Maryland and my pond is about 5 years old. Last summer I had to clean the pump filters once a month as they would get so clogged the water falls would stop. I replaced the UV bulb last summer and have inserted new filters with no improvement. What can I do to prevent this from...

waterlilies and their pots by ~ Windsong ~
Ok guys. I have a question about water lilies. I have about 15 of them and the problem is those pond pots we use to plant them in. You know the ones I mean. They're the large size black plastic stiff mesh like ones. I line them with a poly/cotton cloth to help keep the soil from oozing out. ...

Bog garden by Richard Holub
I am planning on setting up a bog garden this summer and have a question in ref. to liners. After doing some reading I noticed that some people recommend digging the whole and lining it up with a cheap liner, then making holes in the bottom for slow drainage. I plan on eventually building a pond...

Anyone using Permalon Liners? by matrix
Anyone using Permalon for your pond liner? I am debating whether to go with Permalon or EDPM. I will be using 2 old' -45 mil EDPM liners side by side as a protective cushion and then lay the Permalon on top of it. Anyone know how many years Permalon should last?
