reply to: Keeps out more than leaves! by
Hank
Lisa, I have a 14x zoom on the camera. I was about 25 ft. away out
of an open window.
Nedra, The net is actually plastic hardware cloth on an aluminum
frame. It works well around shrubs also to keep wildlife from munching
and digging. I buy it in rolls from
http://www.mcmaster.com/ . They sell...

Fresh water sting rays by
Barry
Some told me last week about a guy in Davie, Fl (?)
who has created a fresh water sting ray. He says they
get about 14" long.
Has anyone seen or know anything about this?

Cold water by
Sam Hopkins
Goldfish are cold water fish and are perfectly fine at 45 degrees. I
wouldn't waste your electricity trying to raise the pond temp. Now if your
pond was in danger of freezing completely then I would heat it.

clay/dirt bottom? by
Tracey
What about using clay/sand in the bottom of the pond over the liner
and planting pond plants directly in the mud. No pots and lots of
places for water creatures to live. It would be muddy water after a
rain, but it should settle back down and be clear...right? I couldn't
have a lot of water...

Moved the pond by
Steve and Lisa
Well we are finally in our new home and on the advice of fellow pond people
at Lowes we brought our preformed pond with us, framed it and it's gonna
winter in the garage near a big window. So far snails, fish and frogs seem
to have adjusted to the move fairly well. Turns out there were only 2...

OT Conversations during Turkey Day by
PlainBill
To be boringly pedantic about it, the title was "The Mouse That
Roared" by Leonard Wibberley. I believe the book came first, but the
story also appeared as a play and a movie starring Peter Sellers.
There was even a sequel - "The Mouse on the Moon".

It is in Zone 3a.
I have a 300 gallon pond outside which I'm enlarging in the spring.

upgrade to prevent this - $79.68 per...

wildlife pond edging? by
Tracey
I am planning a new wildlife pond in the spring. I would like to
avoid the "ring of rocks " look. I know that with the right planting
and time the rocks would look more natural, but i was thinking about
putting dirt/turf over the edge. I would like to have a very natural
look where the plants...

Koi and ciclids together by
ponder
It would depend on the type of cichlids. Angels are cichlids and the Koi
would kill them just playing with them, Africans would more then likley kill
koi equal in size, they do it to their own, like someone else said they are
terrible when they breed, which is often for cichlids. If your Koi are...

Ashes & Soot in Pond by
stricks760
Happy TG!
I am in So. Cal. Today we have relatively strong easterly winds, blowing
ash and soot from the recent fires all over. Supposed to stay in doors
today, everything has a layer of black soot on it.
It seems to be floating on the pond surface and into the skimmer. Are their
any dangers in...
