Has anyone ever tried Nymphaea lotus (zenkeri) bulbs (I believe the common name is "Tiger Lotus Lily") in a small container pond? Apartment dweller here so I am limited to what I can do, which means small (half barrel at most) and not really a power source either so no water movement. I have been...

I'm overwintering my water hyacinths and a couple other plants and they are THRIVING under 4 normal 40" shop lights. One of the water hyacinths is getting to be almost 2 feet across and the others are at least 1'. They're growing way faster than they did outside over the summer. If anybody is...

Getting ready for winter in NC by Ron Lawrence
I spent a couple of hours this afternoon pulling the brown Hyacinths out of the pond. It's interesting that the water lettuce is still nice and green. I moved most of the remaining lettuce into the veggie filter for now, I know it'll die as soon as we have a hard freeze. Next I've got to trim all...

The place we just moved into has/had a 10x10x3 foot deep backyard pond. The previous owner evacuated the wildlife and 1/2 drained it. We'd like to remove it fully -- but how so. The tasks a Remove balance of water - It will need to be pumped so as not to stink up the neighbors yards with...
