Update by
Bonnie
Tomato plants in veggie filter grew well early
on, then were shadowed by the water celery and
disappeared. Today I was thinning the plants
and found one red tomato.
conclusion - tomatoes grow much better
in my soil than in my veggie filter.

backyard before now.
Anyway, now that winter is coming we will need to shut down
the watefall. We can't afford to run it...

Overwintering Hyacinths by
Tbumpy
Has anyone tried to overwinter hyacinths? I've read to put them in a shallow
bowl with aquatic planting soil on the bottom and lots of water so that it's a
thin mud consistency. I would like to be able to save some of them since they
can be a bit expensive to buy. Any comments appreciated. Thanks...

winter over Mom and two offspring) and I don't have a clue when I should
bring them in, if they have to have filtered water or I can simply...

Edible Pond Growth? by
BD
I don't know if this has been asked before but can anything edible be grown
in a small garden pond? I was thinking of watercress maybe. Even better
would be something that could choke the duckweed. I am in the UK by the way.
Cheers - Bo.

Added pond straw and water turned yellowish-brown by
James
B Straw never gave me any color either, been using it for years. However,
tree debris, (pecan tree leaves and green nuts) will very quickly give my
pond a yellow brown tint.
Are you having any leaves falling in?-James
