wintering by
K30a
What you need to find out, or make a good guess at, is if your pond will freeze
solid. That's not good...
You can *bring* your pond indoors in a stock tank, into a garage, basement or
covered porch. You can get really carried away and build an indoor pond. (This
usually takes some careful...

Anybody in Toronto GTA Area want baby Goldfish?? by
Ian
My pond nursery said my goldfish were still too immature to have babies.
WRONG!
I've got a slew of them, at least a few dozen, possibly more, kinda hard to
see most of those little black kiddies. A few of them are orange, yellow,
white, etc. Figure they are about an inch long, all healthy, and...

We're in zone 5, and we have a beautiful tropical lily that we'd like
to save. What is the best way to do it?

Did someone pull a pump switch? by
pixi
I ordered a Sup02785 Pond Master Waterfall Pump, 5280 gph.
What I got was a ELD SP 100 S pump with same horsepower and wattage.
It was in a box labeled Pond Master WFP-5300.
The literature that came with it is for the ELD SP 100 S.
Did I get what I ordered. It doesn't look like the Pond Master...

Pump power consumption numbers by
Andrew Burgess
I purchased a power meter and collected some data on my pump:
From the labels on the pump:
Sequence 2400 SEQ10
motor: AO Smith 1.8A 1550 RPM 0.14HP
Nothing on the manufacturers website, I think this model
has been discontinued. I sort of remember the rated power was 100w.
Plumbing (undersized I...

What type of dragonfly is this ? by

Recently a noisy black and green drgonfly visited my pond. I managed to get

dragonfly this is?

frost lines and shallow ponds by
Bob in PA
Hi Pat,
I live in Levittown, right outside of Philly. I've had ice as thick as
8 inchs on my pond. Is your pond above ground or buried in it? With the
above ground pond your going to have to worry about ice forming on the sides
to, and an above ground pond will get colder a lot quicker too.
You...

Leave and debris screen for pond by
John Bachman
Yikes! I seem to be in the pond screen business.
I searched around for a screen to put on my pond this fall but could
not find a suitable one. So I built one. Other people asked me to
make one for them so I did. I made design improvements as I went
along, making it easy to disassemble for...

Good news! by
Szpond
I've been writing all summer for suggestions on how to clear up my water.
First it was the normal "spring" green. Then I had terrible floating algae.
Then just plain old nasty, thick, green. I tried all suggestions. Water
changes, more plants, BZT, covering biofilter, cleaning biofilter, etc....

turtle question.... by

Yes, that's a great suggestion. There should be a rescue group somewhere in
your area/state. Lots of people buy them for their kids and then when they
have to do all the work.... Well, you know how that is.

Tropical Lily question by
Heather
Should I remove the tropical when the leaves die back or before that at a
certain water temp? It is in a heated bog and still sending out new leaves
at this point but the nights have been quite cool. Down to 55 or so.
Thanks,
Heather

slime on my waterfall? by

Hi everyone!
I just have a quick question. There is some green/black algae growing
on the surface of my water fall. Although I do not mind this, as it
makes the cheap plastic pre-formed thing look more natural, the slime
seems to be covered in air bubbles. Is this good, bad or...

PH question by
Lee Brouillet
Karen, "usually" problems like that come from out-of-date testing kits. But
the Master Kit should have all been the same date, more or less. The
"freshwater test" - what's its top end? You may have exceeded its limits.
If you're using baking soda to raise your KH, then your pH should balance...
