Megan
I've just finished digging the hole (yay!), and am preparing to order the
liner, i orignally planned to just go with a good ol' plastic liner, but the
neighbor's handy man came over to check out what we were doing and he
suggested using bentonite clay as the liner rather than a plastic liner.
I've...

Why do Lillies need water depth? by
Mickey
I am not sure about the deeper water part. I can tell you that lilies in
general send out shoots to figure out what depth they are at. Then send out
longer shoots until they reach the top. I your case when you moved the
lilies to a deeper area they probably were in shock because they couldn't
find...

Koi Now have the Pond! by
Lee Brouillet
Cool! Community ponds are nice - lots of activity and colors, but it can
become problematic if/when meds are needed. Having them separated will make
that easier. Plus it will keep "mules" from happening. And the goldies
aren't as hard on the plants as koi are. Musta been hard to catch all...

Quarantine tanks by
FBCS
Help. I have used a rubbermaid container and an aquariun biofilter pump to
quarantine fish aquired at a show that ended up being sick (died) and were
being treated chemically. How do I prepare it for use again? My thoughts are
paracites, flukes and whatever else the problems were won't it stay in...

Frogs With Spots by
BenignVanilla
We have about a dozen frogs now in the pond. They are all variants of green
to yellowish green. I hope to get some updated pics this weekend. Over the
past few weeks I have seen a few that were olive green, with black spots.
They are almost leopard skinned. I have seen one that was a few inches...

Blue Koi in MD? by
BenignVanilla
OK, months ago I scoffed at you loonies spending good money on fish, how

white with orange stripes, and two that are pale yellow.
A few weeks ago one of the pale yellow ones came up to say hello and

Well Water by
Gregory Young
What level is the iron in your well water (in ppm)?
If it's above 1.5 - 2 ppm, you should go for a conditioning system for your
home, as higher iron levels can stain clothing, and cause buildup on your
shower nozzles, faucets, etc..

Normal salt level for koi pond ? by
Gregory Young
Whatever is in your water.
Koi do just fine in fresh water, which will have some trace levels of
various salts, not just sodium chloride, but also calcium and magnesium.
(which affect the total hardness)
Happy ponding,

My koi have become coy by
EEEK
I was out-of-town for a few days and returned on Sunday. Normally, I have
somebody feed my koi when I'm gone for more than a day or two, but decided
they'd be fine without any feedings. Upon returning home I gave them their
usual food and they didn't eat it. I've tried feeding them several...

Real Carp don't eat Koi food by
joe
We just came back from a houseboat trip to Lake Powell in Utah. One of the
coolest things were the carp. We stopped for gas at a marina and were amazed
to see schools of carp at the docks (1' - 2 1/2' range) being fed by the
tourists. They acted just like their domesticated Koi brethren, mouths...

Gills by
Glen Scott
Recently I have noticed that several of my Koi have been up at the
surface of the pond and the waterfall. A few have died with no
visible external problems. When they died, I looked at their gills and
noticed that there were areas of gray and looked necrotic.
Is this normal post-mortem, symptoms?...
