Opinions on various pumps (Rio Aqua, Via Aqua, Quiet One, Mag) by
Harry Muscle
This is sort of a follow up to my previous message (Water Change Pump
Recommendations). First, here are the requirements ... pump 15G of water up
4 feet in about 5 minutes. This will only be done once a week (ie: pump
runs for 5 mins a week). So here's some of the pumps I've looked at:
Rio Aqua...

Or does anyone have the details on feeding egg yoke
Currently I use the latter to feed my...

Lead weights for plants by
RedForeman ©®
I have a lead melter/burner device that melts about a US pound of lead at a
time. I'd like to find out how to make a mold to shape it in.
My current ideas are, using 1"x1" wood, and fastening it to make a series of
steps, X's or triangular shaped ridges /\/\/\/\/\ in some fashion, cap on
both...

Any experience on getting a Vortex XL Canister setup? by
Kenneth Ho
**** Post for FREE via your newsreader at post.usenet.com ****
I finally got it, I bought the one without the powerhead, which means it
needs to be connected to the outlet of a canister filter or some sort to
work. Anyway, I open the jar up, noticed there are two things, the filter
bag, and the...

pH tester recommendations by
E.Otter
Looking for a test kit that can accurately test from 6.6 to 7.6 in 0.2
increments (6.8, 7.0, 7.2, etc...). My town's tap water is usually 7.4 but
sometimes is more and I try to maintain a pH between 7.0 to 7.2, so I need
to accurately measure pH in this range.
I've tried Aquarium Pharm's 6.0 to...

Light managment by
[email protected]
Hi,
I have a new question for this newsgroup about light management in
freshwater tank.
I have asked to my reseller how much light a tank will need. He answered me
that I can switch on the light in my tank when I am at home so I can enjoy
it. In fact, he said, in nature the amount of light that...

Building a canopy by

came with one florescent t8 tube, a power glow. I think its about 2.5 ft

live plants.
In my new diy canopy I'm planning on using two, twin t8...

Porcelain Tiles in a tank? by
Harry Muscle
Anybody know if porcelain tiles (like the ones that go on the floor) are
safe in an aquarium. Sinks and such are made of porcelain, so the porcelain
itself is fine, but the tiles are colored porcelain. Anyone know what kind
of chemicals they use to color porcelain, and if this stuff would be...
