Mag v. Rio by
Rick
I have noticed that people seem to dump on RIO pumps a lot. Not just in the
newsgroups, but at LFS and such too.
I was wondering why this is? I've never had any Mag Drive pumps but I have a
couple RIO's that have been nothing but useful. Less than 2 years all be it.
Why are Mag Drives so much...

Protein skimmer advice needed by
Karl
I have a tunzi 3130 protein skimmer sat inside my 125 gallon tank and
would like to get an alternative unit to sit inside the cabinet
underneath.
I have been thinking about getting the turbofloater 1000 multi and a
small tank to use as a sump.
My question is this. Quite simply, how do you set them...

Too much powerhead? by
Bill Gutknecht
I have a 29 gal FO tank. I've been getting too much of that blue/green
cyanobacteria and the LFS
guy suggested that I have poor water flow (all I have is a whisper wet
dry) I had an old PH, which
is rated for like 295gal/hr ... but it makes the fish look like they are
swimming in a river! ...

Cycling New Tank by
Kelley
Hello everyone,
I have a quick question about cycling my tank. The tank was setup
January 18th and has been cycling since (11 days). The live rock was
fully cured and had some nice growth on it. I have actually had no
visible die off on the rock. In fact, Anthelia has grown like crazy
since I...

Hazy Water Conditions by
Rick
Just setup my tank last weekend. Water is still hazy.
55 gal
2-Ehiem Filters
running temp high at 80 so bacteria grows faster
I think it will clear up when I add some charcol media, but need to
wait until Nitrate cycle peeks.
Is this a normal haze from bacteria? I guess what I have is new...

Richard Ryerson
Thanks all for your great comments...
Seems 100% against Rio's. :D
I must have gotten pretty lucky with mine. Hasn't broken down, I dont have
to hit it. Impellor seems fine...
At any rate, I wanted to get new powerheads to go along with my DIY wave
maker in feb.

Cowfish (Lactoria cornuta) in reef tank by
Mislav
Hi,
has anyone experience with cowfish (Lactoria cornuta) in reef tank? Pages
I've read say that they feed on worms, shrimps, little crabs and algae. I
couldun't find info that they eat corals or anemones.
Is it then safe for reef aquarim, meaning safe for corals?
Tnx
Mislav
