Heating by
miskairal
After spending many months learning about keeping a reef tank I've come
to the conclusion that no two people do it the same and no set up is the
"right" way necessarily. I really wish someone would just say, you do
this, this and this as us women aren't too good at making decisions.
Anyway, I'm...

BriSape23
Hello all hobbyists...I am hoping someone will have the time to reply
to my message..
After several visits to my LFS and thorough internet research...it
seems everyone has an opinion of set up for a reef tank. I am going to
be setting up a FLOWR tank in a 46 gallon bowfront. Here is what I
think...

Glenn P
Hi Guys,
I'm after some advice on what I can do for my sick fish.
A couple of weeks ago my phosphate filter clogged up & blocked all water
flow at sometime during the night, the next morning my regal blue tang was
looking pretty sick & I thought it was going to die.
I got the filter cleaned out,...

Xenia advice-Keep it or get rid of it now by
[email protected]
I just recently added several stalks of xenia to my 150 gallon reef
tank. In just a week I noticed that it has already grown quite a bit,
and spread to an adjacent rock at the bottom of the tank. I have read
that it can grow to nuisance proportions.
Would others with xenia experience recommend...

Lighting question again. by
rs11
I have a 65 gallon reef setup that I have had for years. I am thinking
of changing the lighting on it and would like some input. I have been
using Metal halide with 2 actinic. The corals are doing well, soft and
stoney corals. The problem is the heat that is generated by the MH. I
have no chiller...

Noisey Red Sea Pump by
martin
Hi,
I've bought a Red Sea Berlin HOB Skimmer with a U.S. 110v pump. I have a
transformer to convert UK 240v to 110v but the pump is really noisy, I can
use one of my other pumps which is fine but its not as powerful as the Red
Sea one that came with it. If I run the pump not connected to the...

How do you know if a coral has been dyed by
[email protected]
I have purchased some pretty awesome colored LPS corals before with
neon pink soft tissue coloration. I was told by some that such corals
had been dyed, but they retained that coloration for nearly a year,
till a tank crash killed most corals in my tank. Therefore I assume
that the neon pink...

At least I can't lose my SPS tank all over again, the rock is still

Stocking Suggestions by
Mark Elliott
I recently had a wipe out and lost all my fish - the corals are OK though.
So, I've now got a 60*24*20 reef tank plus large sump (with DSB) and no
fish.
What would you stock with?

Tap vs. RO/DI water by
Marc Levenson
With an RO/DI (Reverse Osmosis/ De-Ionized water), you'll always have pure
water, with no metals, no phosphates, no nitrates, no chlorine (and hopefully no
chloramines), which is your best bet.
Your two water sources have a variety of strengths and weaknesses. I used tap
water for years, and...

Modifications of ETSS-type skimmer ? by
[email protected]
I have a 150 gallon reef tank which came with a custom-made ETSS-type
skimmer which sits in the sump. Although I have read that in general
this is a good bang-for-the-buck design, I have been thinking about
trying to improve the skimming in my tank because the tank has had
persistent levels of...

Power Glo versus Marine Glo by
BriSape23
I have read many postings and several websites on the topic of lighting
for a reef aquarium. However other than mostly opinion of what looks
better, I can not seem to find the answer I need.
For Flourescent Green Star Polyps what is the best light source? I can
only choose between Power Glo or...

DSB versus SSB by

Can some kind soul please direct me to an article about the differences
(the fors and againsts) using Deep sand beds OR Shallow sand beds.
OR give me your own experiences and opinions.
I seem to be overwhelmed with info. The only aquarium near here that
stocks marine fish and equipment is 2 1/2...

Is this Velvet?? by
Michael Lawford
Hi,
Up until yesterday I was sure that I had Velvet in my tank. First I treated
it with a parasite remover called Heal all for a week. That was not working
so I dosed them with something called Myazin. My clown and my multi colour
wrasse look fine but my Midas Blenny still looks odd. After 5...
