Compatibility Issue flame angel and yellow tang by
Dan of New Jersey
I have just bought a small yellow tang. My flame angel has taken a dislike
to it and chases, nips at. Surprising, my Hippo Tang (Largest fish in tank)
has been swimming with and "protecting it" from the flame angel. I was told
they flame and yellow were compatible...obviously there is a problem....

CPR Hang-On Refugium by
Mike
Hello Group,
I was wondering if anyone in this group has had any experience with
a CPR AquaFuge Hang-On Refugium? I don't have enough room in my sump for a
built-in refugium so I'm considering this one. Marine Depot indicates that
it's only 4" in depth, is that enough room to work around in? ...

Auto top-off by
Dinky
I have found a couple auto-top-off plans on the net, but they are
either so poorly written that I cannot follow them, or include the
use of expensive pumps, switches, sensors, and valves. I'm not in a
position to spend much money at this point, but with the switch to a
refugium\sump from my bigass...

Pod Tank Update by
Yukon
A little over a month ago, I set up a separate 10gal tank to raise some extra pods for mandarin food. I just seeded it with a cup of
gunk from the bottom of my LFS live rock tank. It has a sponge filter, and several pieces of fake tonga rock. I feed it flake,
sinking, and frozen food a few times a...

correct spectrum by
robin.gordon1
having read so much good info on the BLV 10000K bulb I modded my MH to
accept a double ended bulb but when lit it's like a different spectrum.
the old bulb gave off a really bluish light but it definitely had 10000K
written all over it. the new bulb I one that has excellent reviews on the
net and...

snails dying by
Mike Silver
I have lost pretty well all my snails Astrea Snails, Margarita Snails,
Cerith Snails. This happened after getting a few new snails which I
bought to try and control a outbreak of cyanobacteria/red slime. Did
the outbreak kill the snails? Should I get turbos instead? Could it
have been a snail...

I'm confused...again by
George Burnt
If using tap water for a reef is a sin because it might contain silicates,
why is it ok to use silica based sand? Or I am I compaing apples to oranges

too much light? by
Marx
I have MH 150W
Tank is 120l (~30gal).
Light hangs 25cm above surface of water.
Height of tank is 35cm.
I've put 6kg of live rock, but it looses colors and is getting white,
fastest in the center of tank, where light is strongest. Also algae
doesn't want to grow there, even Derbesia.
I want to have...

Death by High PH? by
Amy Palmieri
Hello all, my reef has been up and running for 3-1/2 years now, and I
couldnt be happier with it.tonight while doing some minor cleaning I noticed
my big Emerald crab sitting on the top of the reef. This is odd, as he
usually only appears when the main tank lights are out. I reached out to
give him...

Hello everyone,
I have a 20 gallon hex tank that has been setup for about 6 months.
Tomorrow, I am adding a yellow leather and a carnation and would like advice
from anyone who has successfully kept these corals. From the information I
have gathered, these are both 'easy' to keep, needing only...

Sand Question by
George Burnt
I want to turn my fish only tank into a reef tank, so I go to the LFS to buy
about 200 pounds of sand. The cost of the sand alone costs more than $400.
I then changed my mind about getting the sand from them. I live near many
sand quarries and I called them up to see what the sand would cost...

suppose underwater creatures were thrice as smart as us? by

okay, let's say there were underwater creatures 3 times as smart as
us. could they have developed high civilizations? unlikely since they
can't use fire.
but, suppose they found a way to create outfits that could make them
come to the surface and use land technology and take what they made
back...

10,000K bulb. I thought that it was about time that I replaced it, I phoned
and ordered and 4 days later the wrong bulb arrives (double ended). when...
