Snake in garden pond.
Barry,
It was probably a grass snake and it seems that its favourite food is frogs.
They do eat fish, but unlike some other animals, it is unlikely that it will
take any more than it needs and move...

Filter clogging
That depends.
If the pump is an impellor, then probably not. If however the pump works any
other way, then it probably will.
I don't feel that emptying the pond was a good plan because even as small...

New to gardening/ponds and a little confused.
Ususally, the pressure of the water will hold the liner in place.
Firstly check inside the hole/vessel to ensure there are no spiky bits that
are likely to be able to poke through the liner. If in...

New to gardening/ponds and a little confused.
It's probably best to line - I would. It's apparently not good practice to
have fish and wood in the same pond (however small), same goes for metals.
Make sure if there are fish in there that it is...

using tiles instead of a pond liner
I'm not sure you'd want to.
If you leave a swimming pool, the algae builds up, forming a green cast to
the tiles therein. This can be scrubbed off, but the grout will usually
discolour...

Invasive water weed
You could, but then I think it's a case of money versus time.
You could spend a lot of time digging over, but then you would also need to
reseed the lawn anyway and might not completely clear the...

Invasive water weed
I too have sworn quite a bit and very colourfully too, often making up new
words when others haven't worked or stringing the swearwords together to
form new and exciting ones. The latter turn the...

DUCK WEED - How do I Remove IT?
I have never found the barley straw method particularly good for blanket
weed. I have plenty of canadian pond weed in our pond and this seems to
keep the blanket weed down pretty well, I wonder...

New site for ponds and garden
We had a stream originally, but we got rid of it as it became dirtied really
quickly. I was cleaning it once a week and now we just have the waterfall.
I would definitely suggest using pond liner...
