So would it be fair to say that on this paticualr tank a Sump would be extra
preferable??

I've never heard or read about that making a difference. Any metal framing
generally dictates freshwater only, but those are rare these days.
The main thing about a 55 that makes it better for fresh than salt is the
profile. It's long and lean, which gives it lots of display area but less
surface area than other tanks that length. Extra surface area is
preferable for marine tanks.
