Nope, but very common type of fish. Very easy to breed, very hardy and so
rather easily available.

And in this case "type" is really more correct than "species", as these
fish are a manmade form of a wild Vietnamese species. Golden Barbs were
called "Puntius sachsi" or "Barbus sachsi" until it was found out that

they
are not a real species but a morph of a species, Barbus (Puntius)
semifasciolatus, sometimes known as "Brass Barb".
