Default common vs scientific names

Does anyone know of a site that gives common and scientific names of
Central/SA cichlids? I am new to cichlids. The b/f has had them
before but he wasn't very precise about them. We have had several of
them for a month or two now, and I have a book with the scientific
names, but it doesn't give any of the common ones. And it's not like
every fish looks just like the pictures the book has. :-)

TIA,
Nicole

I like to use Fishbase -- http://www.fishbase.org/search.cfm

You can find the scientific names using the common names, and vicey-versey

www.fishbase.org

Use it to search the common name and it should return possible matches
for the scientific name. Fishbase.org contains information on most
fish species not just aquarium fish.

Nice one page list, not all inclusive, but handy.
