![]() I would take the surviving two back to the pet store asap. Or call a vet and ask if you have a turtle rehabber in your area and turn them over to the rehabber. Then I would do a lot of research before trying this again. Turtles need extensive filtering to be kept inside along with heat lamps and I think I a UV light. Outside they need a nice large pond with a healthy filter attached, a safe place to bask for hours and hours every day. They need a safe way to enter and exit the pond. They need a wide variety of natural foods and specialized turtle chow if that is not available. They eat specific things during certain times of their lives, young turtles eat more protein than older turtles. They need to have a hole kept open in the ice during the winter. we had 5 painted turles, keep them in our unused bathtub, in 2'' water with a few rocks. they seem to eat the turle food we got them frm pet store...but they arn't happy, 3 have passed away ![]() happy? kathy :-) algae primer http://hometown.aol.com/ka30p/myhomepage/garden.html |

Make sure they get temperatures that keep them feeding, 70f to 90f day
range is comfy Sunlight is quite important, however a bit of shade is too, to avoid excess heat Making sure the water does not become polluted is rather useful... A diet of plants and live food will be a good perk A casualty rate as high as 3 out of 5 dead, that is not good Checkout this forum for turtle keeping tips, uhuh? http://www.turtletimes.com/Forums/ Regards, andy http://www.members.aol.com/abdavisnc/swglist.html (WilsonKKW) wrote in message ... we had 5 painted turles, keep them in our unused bathtub, in 2'' water with a few rocks. they seem to eat the turle food we got them frm pet store...but they arn't happy, 3 have passed away ![]() happy? |

Sorry for the three that have died. I think that load is way too high for that size container. Turtles poop tons and need very excellent filtration. If you keep the tub, you should provide more water and an island for them to sun bathe on. Mostly though, you need a real filter. IMHO, even two turtles in this environment may be too many.
