Is your pond a true natural pond, mud bottom and flow through fresh water,
or a pond made to look natural, but completely recycling the water? I think that we need to know this before we can provide useful feedback. -- RichToyBox http://www.geocities.com/richtoybox/pondintro.html "gunnar" wrote in message news:J58Ke.111759$rb6.66745@lakeread07... i am having problem with fish getting ulcers in tail what could be causing this . pond is natural gets water from brook which then flows thru two ponds pumped thru Laguna filter then back into brook. |

It has a liner but it flows through to brook. I lined it due to heavy mud
which fish would stir up cutting view of them. I have had this set up for 3 years and never a problem. should i have water tested. "RichToyBox" wrote in message ... As long as your getting a continous flow of water through from a
brook, it could possibly also be introducing nasties from a source upstream of where your diverting the water from.....I ofund that a nutrient rich water is a good breeding ground for nasties in koi and GF. Seems natural game type fish like bass and bream can tolerate it but the ornamental tpes don;t fare as well in it. It may not be a bad idea to check the water for nasty organisms, as you really never know what may have gotten into it at some time or other. Don't pay that no it all bitch any attention...she is too wrapped up
in her own little world on harrasing folks and upsetting other newsgroups...... I would check water parameters first off, if possible isolate the fish in a QT setup. Net the fish and dab the area with iodine or PP paste, and feed it some medicated feed, and do daily water changes. Most times just good quality water is sufficient to turn things areound, but sometimes they do need a bit of help and antibiotics give them a boost. Somehow I have a feeling your water paramters are off.....Too much mulm and junk in the ponds bottom can also cause this.
