I am buying a set of monitors for O2, PH, Conductivity, Nitrates and
others... Which brand should I buy, the ones I need are for an experimental filter and I need accurate readings from my tank to use those readings in my thesis. Thanks! iy |

Thanks! iy If you need good accuracy, I would suggest rather than checking with hobbiest, check with the scientific community. Pinpoint PH and Conductivity meters seem ok, but I don't know if they are the most accurite in the market. Check with your prof's and see what they would suggest. Kim |

I did check their equipment, in the lab I have Pinpoints so I guess they
like them. I just want to have one for myself hoping to buy something cheaper with enough accuracy, I can't take my design to the Univ. Too many people already asking too many questions. iy "kim gross" wrote in message ... Inabón Yunes wrote: I am buying a set of monitors for O2, PH, Conductivity, Nitrates and others... ![]() "I am buying a set of monitors for O2, PH, Conductivity, Nitrates and others..." Do not bother with nitrate meter., they do not work correctly in seawater. And I do not care what some website says or someone tells you :-) O2, WARNING make sure it can adjust, have settings or tables for seawater and altitude errors If you have money then Horiba, Orion or YSI http://www.horiba.com/flash.htm http://www.thermo.com/com/CDA/Catego...,2213,,00.html http://www.ysi.com/index.html My choice 1. It is not that a Nitrate meter/Colorimeter/Spectrophotometer can't accurately measure
Nitrate, NO3-, they can. It is that they are not set to see Nitrate correctly in seawater. If you had a known NO3-- seawater solution std or made a seawater solution with a known NO3- concentration, then you could calibrate the meter to that std and it would be fine. -- Boomer If You See Me Running You Better Catch-Up Former US Army Bomb Technician (EOD) Member; IABTI, NATEODA, WEODF, ISEE & IPS Want to talk chemistry ? Well, thanks, good to know that, I can prepare such a solution in the lab,
