Clownfish growing cotton?

It's possible that anemones might help clownfish
heal up faster, but there is no evidence to show it.
One thing is for sure though, anything that reduces
stress will help fish heal up faster. And having an
anemone to snuggle in can reduce stress. So
indirectly the anemone could help, but directly,
nobody knows of any evidence to such, but it's possible.

just a small contribution. I set up my tank 6 weeks ago (no problems,
everything is cycled and coralline algae growing on everything) and the
second fish to go in was my percula. She stressed and grew white fuzz on
the front of her body. That was a week ago and after gently nudging her
anemone all week she is finally clear of the fuzz, I'm convinced the
anemone helped clean her up. any thoughts anyone on the role of the
anemone?

My angel was getting some clouding on her eye. She would swim up next to one
of our hermit crabs and let the crab eat the stuff off of her eye. She's
fine now.

Have you ever heard of such a thing?

Yes, I've seen that many times. In the store I had a
stupid fish that did not have any fins left because
it kept going to a large hermit crab to be cleaned.
I eventually moved the fish to another tank so that
it could regrow it's fins.

Cleaner shrimp are a lot better :-)

Funny that you should mention this. I actually went to the LFS
yesterday to discuss various options and he also recommended a cleaner
shrimp, which has been added to the tank now. It's been in around 18
hours or so and hasn't shown a great amount of interest in the clown
just yet...but oddly, the clown seemed drawn to it like metal to a
magnet...to the point where the shrimp has firmly planted himself in a
crevice in the rock, and seems content to stay there for the moment

The clown also does seem to be behaving perfectly OK...he's swimming
in the same ares he always does, eating voraciously etc....so with any
luck it'll just clear up on its own...hopefully.

Cleaner shrimp are more active in cleaning when you
have two, but just stick to the one right now since
your tank is still new.

Yessir, that would be him. Creepy, mosquito looking etc.

Is there something else I should be feeding this guy? He seems to
have found a place he likes hanging out, upside down, on the back of
one of the rocks...should I be concerned, or just leave him be?

Cleaner shrimps will take flake - quite funny to watch as they trundle
upside down gleaning the flakes from the surface of the water.....they
will also clean your fingers once tame enough.....tickles like anything :-)
