Well, when it rains, it pours. Think it's a sign I'm not supposed to be
going on holidays. With the havoc going on in the big tank, I haven't been watch the smaller tank to closely. The smaller tank has my smaller breeds of fish, bloodfin tetras, few platties, danios, couple kribs, couple skunk loaches, few head tail tetras. Anyways, long story short, two bloodfins have a bad case of cotton mouth. It's bad enough, their upper pallet (sp) of their mouth has fallen off, don't appear to have the ability to eat. No other fish in the tank currently show signs of cotton mouth. So, couple questions. I'm leaving in a couple days, I have a hospital tank currently set up treating my pleco for body fungus/bacteria, currently being treated with Binox. Three options: 1. Put the two bloodfins down as the damage seems quite severe. Fatality rate of late stages cotton mouth is high, and it's said to be contagious. 2. Move the two into the hospital tank, start them with treatment of Binox. 3. Treat the whole tank with Maracide or Binox, as cotton mouth is deemed contagious by many websites, even though no other fish show signs of cotton mouth. Treatment would have to stop Thursday night, unless treatments are ok to leave unattended for a week. Anyones opinion? Thanks |
