ive got 2 of them in a 40litre aquarium and have added 2 Leopard danios and
theres no problem. However, we will be getting a 190litre tank at some point and again will be setting up as a tropical. Now we really want to keep a blue lobster , apple snails, a puffer of some sort and then some other various fishes. Is this feasable at all?? -- Donegal Paul Lambretta Li186 - crashed and bashed Vespa T5 Millenium - Wifey's (technically) www.thepilgrimssc.co.uk www.a4c.co.uk - What are YOU doing? |

Thusly "Donegal Paul" Spake
Unto All: Now we really want to keep a blue lobster , apple snails, a puffer of some sort and then some other various fishes. Is this feasable at all?? I suspect puffers don't go with any snails at all. I had T. nigroviridis, and although they were fairly small puffers, about 10 cm, I could feed them adult Helix snails (aka Burgundy snail, edible snail, or escargot). They had no problems whatsoever biting chunks out of the snail, and Helixes are about the size of apple snails. Actually puffers generally don't get along, period. My nigroviridis were peaceful, I never saw them chase or nip other fish, but most puffers will, including, I'm told, nigroviridis. |

A tank dedicated to a specific species? I hear that Colomesus Asellus are less aggressive than other types of puffers. They are also freshwater. http://www.thetropicaltank.co.uk/Fishindx/puf-asel.htm Just don't put them in with angelfish as their long fins won't last long. Nikki |

Thats what i was leaning towards thinking and yet all the information i can find states that you dont NEED to do this, ie if youre careful what you house them with? I hear that Colomesus Asellus are less aggressive than other types of puffers. Yep, had sussed out the "long fins attract puffer nips" bit :-) I am planning to put him in a 190 litre trigon (corner) tank when we get it. -- Donegal Paul Lambretta Li186 - crashed and bashed Vespa T5 Millenium - Wifey's (technically) www.thepilgrimssc.co.uk www.a4c.co.uk - What are YOU doing? www.ailishandcharlie.co.uk |

I was going to get a couple from my LFS, but the whole lot died of white spot before I could even purchase them! Just don't put them in with angelfish as their long fins won't last long. That said, they turn predatory at around 5 years and annihilate anything in sight. |
