Default stress coat useful?

Hi.

I have to do a gravel vac & adjust a plant some time this week. I know
that the advertising suggests that any time that you do something like
this you should add stress coat, but I'm wondering what the r.a.f.

wisdom
is on this -- is stress coat as beneficial as it purports to be? I

don't
have any right now, and I'm thinking of buying some before I have to
stress my fish while I muck around in their home. So... what's the
verdict? Is Stress Coat as good as advertised?

Thanks.

I'm afraid that all you'll get is anecdotal comments and not anything
scientifically validated. If that's all you're looking for, then I use
Stress Coat on new Discus arrivals. My regular de-chlor 'Aqua-plus' has
stress coat in it as well, but most tanks are on activated carbon filters
which remove chloramine, so I don't use a lot of de-chlor. A Discus's
slime coat seems to be more problematic for sporezoans (or is it
protozoans) so the Stress Coat seems like a good idea. Once they are
acclimated, then I don't use anything special when I gravel vac and
re-plant (I might flick my fingers at them so they leave me alone ;~).

Of course, no post is complete without 'ymmv'.
