New Tank Set up Help - Yellow Algae?

Hi Marc,

Many thanks. I'll take your advice on those points. I'm keen to do this tank
right and get it established. I'm using tap water - here in the UK the RO
are too expensive for now, but i do have Phosphate and Nitrate removers in
the external filter. The Yellow algae is now brown, but it seems to have
settled and not got worse. I got 10 hermits from the LFS, I'll get more next
week when they get stock.

Turn on the skimmer immediately. That isn't a really good one, to be
honest. It would be better for you to shop around for a good skimmer that
will care for your future bioload.

What is your water source? Tap water, or filtered?

If I could ever figure out a way to ship you guys RO units for a fair
price, I'd be rich. I can't believe it is so hard to get RO units out
there.

Can you buy distilled water at your supermarket? Here it is about $0.40
/gallon. That might be your best bet vs. tap water.

6 Stage 100 Gallons/Day with DI, Pressure Gauge and Digital Inline TDS
Meter = £145 UK Pounds. (250 USD) This is what I have... works great.
Input TDS = 260, Output TDS = zero!

They also do a pressure storage tank, drinking faucet, filters,
membranes, etc.
