Hi,

I have a 50gal planted aquarium and I use an Eheim 2217. at first it was
quite noisy, but found that was due to air bubbles caught in it. My tank is
a lot clearer than with my previous filter (via aqua). The only problem is,
there are no filter media baskets in mine and priming can be a bit of a pain
after cleaning out the media, but all in all, I would not go back to any
other filter...

Hope this helps.

Justin.

I have an Ecco 2231, am quite happy with it.

I find I don't need to do as many filter cleans but it keeps the tank
in great shape. I probably am due to a filter clean, been 5 months or so
since I did the last...

I am currently using an internal filter for my 55 gallon planted tank.
Currently, I am using an internal filter for its quietness. However,
the internal filter practically does nothing to cleaning the tank water
other than move it around. Now, I want to get a new external canister
filter.

I am planning to get this filter:
Eheim Ecco Comfort Canister Filter- 2234

My first concern...
Do these filters make a lot of noise? If so, are there any better
alternatives as to canister filters that make very little noise?

My second concern...
Is this an effective filter, a filter you would recommend me to get?
I currently have 1 pair of angelfish, 6 bleeding heart tetras, 9 ottos,
and 10 japonica shrimps in this tank.

thanks!!
