Default Fibromyalgia- Run Silent, Run Deep

You may wonder where I am some days;
Of my absence, you've inquired-
You are worried that I'm missing meetings
Or thinking that I'm just tired.

If you only knew the truth about me-
And of the enemy within;
I battle this foe each day of my life-
A war I cannot seem to win.

From the moment my feet hit the floor,

The enemy makes itself known;
Night after night brings unrefreshing sleep-
My smile's replaced with a moan.

All through the day, I can't keep my thoughts straight
As my concentration staggers;
With no warning and no rhyme or reason,
My body is filled with daggers.

On the outside, I might seem quite normal-
Even good, to the human eye;
But the battle I'm forced to fight within
Hurls enough pain to make me cry.

It matters not that you can't feel my pain
But, greet me with gentle embrace;
For I may not run as fast as you can-
But know that I'm still in the race!

If you do not see me, don't fail to call-
That I may feel brotherly love;
Recall my battle with "thorn in the flesh"-
Soon removed by our God, above.

Run silent, Run deep- Fibromyagia;
Although no one may know your cause;
For one day soon, I'll be free of your sting-
A day of rejoicing applause!
