Thanks for the responses!! I took the pump apart and found that the plastic
shaft was actually broken - the pump still worked, but I'm assuming that the moving parts were hitting the chamber. Doh! I could only find replacement parts for the 1250 on Eheim's webpage - if anyone knows other places, please let me know. You could try and replace that -- if the impeller shaft has gone slightly out of true, that would cause a lot of extra vibration.
