Hi all,

i usually just lurk here but am going to dip my toe in the water.

I had gold fish for years in the 70's & 80's but gave them up as too much
work. I've just gone back to keeping fish and in the past 3 months had no
dramas. We had about 5 fish then bought another 20. Unfortunately one of
them had white spot and before we realised what it was it was too late

and
we lost about 15.

So now we've treated for white spot and have been clear for 2 weeks. My
water is fine, it's been tested. BUT some of the fish (mainly the nymphs)
that had white spot now have black patches. It's like they are changing
colour. A couple of them had black tips to their fins to start with but

now
it's black scales.

Is it normal for this to happen? Changing colour after white spot or do

they
change colour normally? In all the years I've kept fish I've never had

white
spot in my tank before.

They change color, but it's rare that they change to black, usually
the other way.

Black appearing on a goldfish is usually a sign of healing, recovery
from bad conditions. the white spot, or the treatment, may havbe
dammaged the fish.

How much water do you have them in? If my math is correct, you have
10 fish left.

We have I think 6 or 8 smallish gold fish (a couple of nymphs, 1 very small
white one, 1 red cap 1 small comet 1 bronze thing my kids call the whale )
There are a couple of danios, white clouds and golden barbs in there too
that oddly were not affected by the white spot. Gave up trying to count
them cause they are too quick! but all up I guess 6 to 8 smallish gold fish
and about 6 smaller ones. Tanks 3ft about 120 litres in each. For the moment
they are all in one tank

They seem to be feeding well swimming well and active so I'll just take your
word on it that they are healing...really dont want to lose them all.
