Here is a outline of what my setup is:
75 Gal tank, 65 lbs live rock in display tank and 10 lbs in my 20 gal sump with a remora skimmer. I also have 11 hermit craps 11 turpo snail, a cleaner srimp, a pepermint srimp, 1 tomato Clown, 1 Regal Tang and a banner fish. My question is, do I have enough filtration with just the live rock and skimmer for this tank? The guy at the LFS said that live rock is not enough for filtration. |

Good thing you have more than the live rock for filtration. ;-) You
have the skimmer, too. Do you have the Remora, or Remora Pro? Some people will say that 75 gallons is the upper limit for a Remora. It sounds to me like you have a very reasonable bioload for a 75 gallon tank, though I admit off the top of my head I don't know what a banner fish is. (time for Googling). I think as long as you're careful not to overfeed etc., you'll be OK. I have a Remora on my 55 gallon tank, and it seems to do an excellent job. joe cool wrote: Here is a outline of what my setup is: 75 Gal tank, 65 lbs live rock in display tank and 10 lbs in my 20 gal sump with a remora skimmer. (j/k) gLive Rock isn't just ENOUGH for filtration, it is, arguably, the BEST filtration. Add an adequate quantity of cured LR to a decent skimmer, and you've got your filtration setup. I'll side with the 'Captain' and say that a regular Remora is just barely enough for a 75. You'll be fine as long as you don't try to load the system up with critters too badly. I would toss in more hermits and snails at the first sign of algae, or it will get out of control fast. billy |
